Actually...a few of them do. They camp the planet.

This also happens alot more in NewYork.

Dosnt the 24 hour rule apply now that if you as a trader refuse tax and get shot down you need to change your trade ruit for 24 hours.

If the trader spilt his cargo you could have tractored them in and shot the rest to pieces. No more tractoring in for him.

Anyway. I think it's pretty nasty praying upon a planet. How can a trader change his route if you wait outside? Reminds me a bit of dock raping.

The trader was a wuss for not paying up, but you equally were a wuss for having Odin (> Kushan ) waiting for him to undock.

Flying under radar.

That at me? I'll have you know, I gave him fair chance to pay a SIGNIFICANTLY reduced fee his second time out. Plus, he was dropping f-word variations every which way, and some certain Spanish I will not repeat. Seriously, English has nothing on how badly you can insult people in Spanish...

I only fired on him the second time when he told me to f off rather than pay 10k (well, didn't have time to say how much, but still). What gives?

Outside the planet where they are docked? meh, if someone runs to a planet and docks I'll hang out there until they pay me or log off. Since they are immune to RPing their deaths then I won't let them go.

If I'm sitting at one of 4 JGs out of a system and the same guy comes by after i blew him up you bet your sorry hairdo I'm going to pirate him again, and charge an additional fee for the previous time.

Seriously, as someone who tries to RP his trader, I have no sympathy for traders as a pirate. It's easy enough anyway and hard enough on the pirate.

humph, ill go back to my little corner now.

Thanks for clarifying.

I have to agree here, pirating is quite hard, and harder with traders who don't RP. Such as the S-13 shortcut, please don't use that, it is distinctly ooRP and makes Phantoms show up. Bad for business on every end. I RP trader 'deaths' like any other char, don't respawn for four hours, except in cases of weird NPC/lag related deaths that can be blamed on pathetic internet connection and NOTHING ELSE. Even those I usually stay away for four hours.

People might not have noticed, but polite traders and traders who RP get nice low rates from me, a scant 1 mil as opposed to the 2 mil you would get otherwise. If other pirates adopt something similar, it could really help promote a less 3.2/3.4 prone environment, and one with a little more profit on all sides.

But I love the S-13! It's the most fun system ever!

It sounds to me, we should put a rule to pirates. Something along the line they shouldn't be able to pirate in the vicinity (say, 5k?) of a lawful base. I mean, it doesn't make sense. You should be swarmed by your enemies in those area, unless you are in a cruiser/battleship that can pwn the stuffs around til reinforcement. But, then, you cant pirate, so it doesnt matter anymore.

I'm going to go ahead and quote myself on something I wrote while a little crabby but it still holds true. Last time it killed all conversation for a month. But you brought it up.

' Wrote:I don't tax, I make sure people donate. If they don't want to I introduce them to Mr. Supernova who makes their shields go "poof!" (sorry, 4am, blah).

A question for you Hood, if I am pirating outside a planet and all the proper NPCs are shooting at me (and probably my "allies" to because I did something to piss them off:() do you have a problem with that?

To Madam Geisha, we have butted heads over this issue already, and I had to take 2 Asprin because of it...well, that or the Container Transport that charged me...

A couple of points about your 12k "safety" zone.

1) It would create a HUGE amount of paperwork for our poor overwhelmed admins "HOOD!! He tried to pirate me when I was 11.9k away from a planet."

2) What about if I stop you 14k away from a planet? Pretty much any established trader ship (Adv Train, Whale, Cnt Transport) can survive that 2k on thrusters and decent dodging. Or am I allowed to pursue a trader into the "safe" zone?

3) A lot of the tradelanes aren't terribly long, like 30-35k long. Some of the shorter ones are only 20ish. In that distance it's practically impossible to successfully pirate.

4) Consider all the crap pirates have to put up with already...
-A) Find a good spot where you will get traders but the local military won't find you too easily
-B) STOP a trader AND chat at the same time
-C) Not get blown up by trader or NPCs while typing (and not let the trader escape)
-D) RP more then "2mil or die" (<-yes, I want to RP more but it gets a little tough in a bomber)
-E) Not get blown up by NPCs while trade is occurring
And that doesn't include escorts, or a trader running 90k UP and then saying "//dying is more relaxing for me" (actual quote, said in system chat) (psst, what I just highlighted is if the trader is anywhere remotely near RPing his/her pirating, most just open fire and/or run while I'm typing)

I'm not trying to throw a pity-party here for pirates but we have enough crap to deal with already without throwing a "safe" zone in there. Again, this is not meant to "bash" your idea, simply a statement (semi rant, i'm tired) of why I do not think it will work.
