Well you do if you want it fully functional and capable of making food and oxygen when it gets there. I doubt that you want to get the parts to your biodome in Omicron delta, wait 3 weeks for it to be built, then wait another month or so before viable plants have grown while still shipping in supplies for what could have been being produced withing days of it being attached to the station.
I know I'm new in here, so I want to ask this silly question, Synth Food didn't have any bases all this time, so where are they produce all that tubes ?

They have several planets, just don't have an office

I'd wager that it takes longer to build the thing at some 'facility' and haul it to a site; than it would to just build it on site. Probably cheaper to build it on site too.
I mean, if I was building one in Delta, you can damn sure that I want it built there. Not built in Rheinland and hauled to Delta. I'd rather chance a a dozen 5m load of materials spread out over the construction phase than chance the entire project while it moves.
Sure your idea is plausible, but it isn't logical nor economical.
Also, more custom station parts instead of using a bunch of stock parts.
There's a certain bit of logic in bringing a pre-built ecosystem from somewhere. The whole idea of a biodome is that they can't grow anything with local resources. Why would you fly in dirt, plants, etc., when you could fly in a ready-made facility. Also there may be some proprietary stuff in them, like with Ageira and the tradelanes.

Thats explain why outcast plant a lot of cardi grass on their field more than they can syntesized, I smell conspiracy between synth and cast.
Anyway, synth foods need planet, they can't mass produce their product on base, it doesnt make sense IMO
Because it is cheaper and safer to fly dirt, plants, etc etc in, than it is to fly in a structure that is worth hundreds of thousands of credits.
Building it on site is less risk than having it constructed somewhere else and then hauled in.
Yes, there is sure to be proprietary stuff in them. Hence why you have to get with Synth to even build them, though that isn't the case if you take a look in some guard systems.
