Space mining!

Think America's discovery/exploration/colonisation here, this is the next step for repeating that with space.

ok if we find aliens we will allow them to live for a bit, then when we want all the space they currently own, we will go and commit genocide against them, wipe out 80% of them or wipe out their means of functioning, force them into small designated areas of space, then slowly over the next 300 years 'tame' them remove anything that they find comforting or empowering, change all that for things people on earth find comforting, basically destroy all or as much of there culture as possible, and then incorporate them into our society. first obviously they would be lesser life forms, possibly slaves of some kind, revolutions and such later, much blood shed, they will eventually get their freedom back. etc

colonisation of space is just next logical step in process of development of civilization. Sole civilization in entire universe, there are no any aliens. Thousands of planets only for us.
I think global recession will slow mining efforts.

btw. Resources from bottoms of oceans will be cheaper, easier and more profitable. At this moment humanity hasn't cheap, reliable and possible for massive use engine for space travels.
