I see some things possibly inspired from Mirror's Edge and Human Revolution, like the one part with the guy behind the wall, the pistol being red, and some of the robots and air vehicles resembles those in Human Revo... Speaking of which, I need to finish Human Revo.
The sad thing is among certain gaming circles there were rumours of CAWADOOOTYINSPEESH for about 3 years now, this a compromise version future Cod but not in space. I quite liked Black Ops, more than I enjoyed MW2 and 3 combined in fact. The thing is, what I am seeing now is a game in which minimal effort was put, a game which will rely on cursing 14 year olds to buy it because they can 360 no scope on the servers. And it will sell well, because CoD is firmly grounded in the popular culture of today, it's what the BMX and the skateboard were in the 90s. The Call of Duty franchise was brilliant, even Modern Warfare 1 was brilliant, it was a diamond actually, it was straight on, old school shooter on steroids for the late 00s of the 21st century. The problem comes from the fact that EVERYBODY, and I do mean everybody including Infinity Wards themselves tried to recreate it and never actually did it properly. And thus one of my favourite games for 2007 turned into a name I despise. Everyone is dumbing down games, copying from MW 1 even in order to steal some of the aforementioned audience, Crysis, Battlefield, even Mass Effect 3, the list goes on and on and on. Call me a hypster but for me CoD symbolises the commercialism of gaming, and it is something I don't want. The trailer in question particularity makes me rage. Dear developers, it is two thousand and frakking twelve I do not want to see things like that in my games http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/med.../05/blops24.jpg 9 years ago Freelancer had more detailed backdrops. I do realize that you are developing for the dirty console peasants running on 5-6 years old hardware but history shows you can do magic with inferior hardware and a lot of imagination.
It'll be the same game as always:
- sp campaign will be an insanely short tunnel shooter full of quick time events. More of an interactive movie than a game.
- multiplayer will be the same "derping around small maps" experience full of gambling elements catering to douchebags and ghetto people, as usual.
- same 13 year old engine
- new futuristic skin => BIG DEAL, MUST BUY!!!! j/k

Exactly. BlackOps already had messed up storyline, completely irrelevant to Modern Warfare or other CoDs.
Imo they're just trying to get something that can beat Battlefield and pretty much failing at it..

You realise Black Ops is made by a completely different development team to Modern Warfare, right?
I actually enjoyed Black Ops' storyline (I'm a sucker for Vietnam era stuff anyway), but BO2 just seems a bit...meh. I mean, yeah bollocks are we going to have that kind of stuff in 12 years from now. Not only is it just another generic shooter but even the setting is unrealistic (not that MW's setting wasn't, but at least I generally enjoyed the tongue in cheek MW1 and MW2. MW3 kinda sucked balls).
