Yeah that was one of the things that was a dead give away for me to. Anyone thats knows anything about the internet knows that "the internet is for porn" and far from Ilegal.
Only thing that worried me the least little bit was the downloading copy right material. As i was infact looking for a pirate copy of a movie after all.

Thanks for the help guys, I can always count on Discovery player base to help out.

Run a linux rescue disk and save your files! Run while you still can! Also try using a simpler web browser like Midori when you're browsing for torrents, with javascript turned off. Link . That way the virus shouldn't re-occur and you can still use your other browsers normally.

I get this white screen saying my comp is locked pending investigation for down loading copy right material, ilegal software and so on. Pay $100.00 and comp will be unlocked in 72 hours pending investigation.
Now everytime i turn on comp, and go to administration account i get this white screen. I try safe mode, and comp reboots to normal mode. I cannot access nothing on Admin account.
Now i log into other user account(where i am now) and starts fine, so i know this is not real, but some type of virus/scam.
Anyone ever hear of this? Or should i just wipe drive, and re-install everything all over again, which i really do not want to do.

Restore your hard disk to a time earlier than the virus in safe mode. It's a virus 6-7 years old that is used to make people thing police is actually censuring them. Quite fun, there are lots of variants.

ok as you said it only appears on one login then that defo tells me its a fake virus and just some kind of malware/spyware

system restore is pointless and wont work here anyway
formatting is also a waist of time

2 brilliant programms ive use to combat these are malwarebyte maleware remover and spybot search and destroy

http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

http://www.safer-networking.org/mirrors16/ - spybot (also click on the update under it)

download an install these in a login that isnt affected

and do complete scans, preferebly in safe mode

you dont need to format

avg/nortons/mcafee wont really help here these to progs should

i use thos 2 progs, they superb, i had a fake virus that came up with a fake scan saying that most of my files are infected pay £50 to clean blah blah, and my desktop pic changed , even my sytem tray clock had gone, the control panel had dissapeard, task manager wasnt available but on another login all was fine!!!! so i installed malwarebytes and spybot and after a complete system scan, all fake rubbish gone, all fine and back to normal

there called Randomweres, their not virus in the least, as a matter of fact, the way the get in is via "regurated" sites, meaning they clone sites and make doubles of them. they lock your primary files down, most virus protecters wont notice this as its not a virus, i a remote accese that people had gained via clicking on their cloned site links

even when you think its safe, your not, system restore only makes them go dormint, i have been hit by only 2, and come to fine out i have 7 ""Sleeping"" in my systems, fun right? but ya, look up Randomwear, thats what ya got

Bump.

My sister just had her computer infected with a browser based version of this malware. Anyone else had problems with their browsers?
