Everyone else on this server would get and do get shot down for using (enemy weaps or ooRP weaps/ships) what makes you think you can get away with using a pirate ID and fly lawful ships and use lawful weaps?.
And the "I salvaged it from the Yanagi field" hasn't cut it before and Im sure it wont cut it here.
Sorry, just my opinion, faction idea seems ok but the use of pirate ID with lawful ships and equipment doesn't work (no one else is allowed so why should you be) kinda thing.
I think it would be better if the characters in sigma did learn how to hire mercs for protection. For that reason I think its good that we have areas where there isnt any police or faction cotroling it.
I'm a bit torn. As Equinox said, if nobody else can do it, why can you? However, I have pirated with an LWB Wrath before, and let me tell you something: I only got questioned on the ship once, and then I just shot him a lot. The traders won't notice any 'ooRP' on your part, if that's how everyone calls it.
Also, about this 'ghosts' thing. Ahem. Expect a visit from the TRUE ghosts to show you what being a ghost really is (i.e. steal your soul:)).
It is creation by reaction. The background remains orginal but it is still a reaction AGAINST and not a creation to IMPROVE.
The group by himself could exist, if people dedicate time and one character for the purpose. Whatever, it is still a reaction. It will last one week and after that ? Pirates becoming "regulator" of the economic balance ? Avoiding newcomers to become rich to easily ? Do we improve the RP by preventing players to realise their dream of flying a costly ship ?
Imposing "laws" is nothing more than reacting to prevent someone to do something. If I said all ships coming to 10km of yanagi are under juridiction and laws of the Junkers. Is it stupid to say that they have to pay a tax or be destroyed ? What is the difference with shooting anyone unauthorized in Alaska. I see one, Alaska is forbiden RP wise, while Sigma 13 is not. So why the traders should be punished ?
Scaramanga said something very realist. Learn to hire protection for RP sake, for interaction with another PC. When a player has one character with enough money, he starts to build RP characters because credits is no longer an imperative. They hire Merc because 2 or 3M $ means nothing for them anymore.
Back to the point, the idea is good : a group of Pirates in Sigma aware that a lot of cash is available is enough to justify a regular activity. However, only the Junkers can keep the diplomatic stance you want to have and can enforce a "threat of piracy" for everyone coming from NB JH. It will also put a clear state about ships : a duo of collectors are just perfect for the job. Add a pirate train for collecting loot and it is done.
"Perfection, honesty, devotion" "Immortality is our subconscious main concern" "To change the system, you have to be inside the system and play by the rules"
Rheinland tags and ships with a pirate ID? Sorry, no, nuh uh, not happening. If Rheinland isn't going to allow even the independents flying Rheinland craft, why would they allow pirates to fly em? And no, the "I stole it" act hasn't worked around here in a long time, and most likely won't ever work again. (Yes, that's the same thing as saying you had the ship during the 80 year war...)
As for the wrecks within Sigma 13, think of it this way. To try and RP doing that? Then within RP of course you'd only be able to hit the wreck once, and that no other of your faction would be able to because it would be 'empty' when you got there anyway.
Also, yes ok that Diamond/Nio run is quite annoying most of the times, but it isn't really an excuse to create an entire new faction to end the run itself. Sigma 13 has enough pirate problems as it is, along with the stupid indies in there as well. Two wrongs don't make a right, and this would be one of those 'wrongs'.
It should either be "Geister des Sigmas", "Geister von Sigma" ('Sigma' is singular here) or "Geister der Sigmas" ('Sigmas' = plural here).
A shorter and better version would be "Sigmas Geister" which is also the usual way to use the German genitive.
About the faction. Well, I don't know, as DBoy stated, it seems wrong to start a faction because of players misbehaving. An option would be to just create a viable pirate character for that area (Blood Dragon, Chrysanthemum, Corsair, even Outcast might do) and have a go at the traders.
The solution to the diamond/niobium issue isn't to have a pirate faction dedicated to one system, and using Rheinland Military NPC rep and ships (and I thought Liberty indie caps had iffy RP), but to rebalance the trade routes in 4.85 so there are various trade routes all of which are equally profitable. Also the current Liberty/Rheinland blockade means that a lot of the 'not the diamond run' trade routes are closed whenever there's SA or LSF online.
EDIT: Also if you create a pirate faction dedicated to griefing (sorry, but that's what it is when your sole purpose is to annoy people into stopping playing the game in a particular way) a single system, then the traders who currently spend their cash on indie cruisers to get in the way of the Liberty lawful factions will instead spend them on GMG (or something similar) ID'd caps (or an entire new 'mini faction') to fight back.
No longer active online due to a dwindling amount of non-PvP (trading, pirating, mining, etc.) fun in the new version.
The real goal here was to -organize- all the pirating players in sigma to be more effective (having them join up with a new character into the faction) instead of all working alone. Easier to stop people when you fly in groups.

i'll admit, the 101st ghosts of razgriz were the inspiration for the group. I rather like the idea of RP'ing as a ghost or alien that has the ability to scare the bejeesus outta people =)
