We are trying to find a solution so we don't have to mess with fighter/capital ship balance.
Make bigger fighters and you will make capital ships stronger.
Improve damage on fighters too much and you will make capital ships weaker.

It is every Corsair's responsibility to die a beautiful death in defense of Crete, regardless of how OORP or how capwhoring the opposition is. Launch your fighter, joust the battlecruisers and die a beautiful death. Then, drink it down in the bar.
Lowering bots on fighters would work more towards fixing 1on1 fights (not to mention messing with vs. Capship balance), while increasing chance to hit would benefit team fights and epic battles. I don't think usage of razors and torpedoes are "a welcome" variaty to fighter weapons. Those ar just "exploits". Jets use gattling cannons and missiles. I don't think they should try to kill other jets by dropping laser-bomb on them. That's not "a welcomed" variaty we're looking for. Variaty of guns, with different refires and mix of pulse/standard is more than enough.
I wouldn't mind reducing bots some but with increase in projectile speed and even damage for fighter guns.

Indeed, lock it and open [whine]Why can't battleship pwn all, when it's te biggest and most expensive type[/whine]
If BS would pwn all, that would solve all balance issues, since everyone would fly battleships, and could dedicate their time to writting RP stories "for beans, for Maya, for the world's smallest violine" instead of practicing the art of dogfight...

StarButt I think what Epyon is actually getting at is that we've heard a lot of opinions on this matter already but the last 12 pages or so have been filled with useless posts pushing the same agenda the whole time. People have read the ideas and responded with their own on the matter, the past 50 posts or so have just been a circle of disagreement and defence.
Don't get me wrong, people are free to discuss at will and all suggestions are welcome (encouraged even) but when I read 7 pages of your posts doing nothing but shooting down anyone that disagrees with the increased projectile speed idea (me included) then maybe it's time to either:
1) Take a break, or
2) Modify a recent build of Discovery to use the increased projectile speeds and test it yourself with some other players.
We have the theory already, the only way forward in this discussion is testing. Until someone supplies us with some unbiased results of these theories there's nothing left here to argue about.
I recently played on freeworlds...
Everything is faster on freeworlds, including the weaponsfire...
I found that it made it much harder to hit anything...

Thats closer to reality and more fun. Hitting is hard but dying is fast.
@Badger: u'd rather leave 1h and 45min fights w/o a winner, than support faster projectile speeds, and u don't even know why. If u don't see the fundamental flaw in Disco, than I sure hope Igiss does, and he's willing to fix it. Nothing worse than bunch of ppl contempt with a status quo, acting like inertial mass, halting progress and enhancments w/o any real reason other than having difficulty with the idea of things changing. There's really no other reason to be against faster weapons, other than not liking any change, not even for the better.
