Armor cap in Skyrim is 567 displayed armor rating, 80% reduction. Above that is just breaking the game.

The problem is that value doesn't scale with level, and is very easy to hit with heavy armor.

Yes its said that the cap for damage reduction is at 80%, but it leads me to question, as I saw video of guy with like 1400 armor leveling his armor skill in between giants and mamooths. Nearly no damage taken.

Also to point out, weapons - you can craft maces and swords that kill most things in one swoosh. Thats boring.

I lost count quite awhile ago but I think my Nordic Werewolf Blacksmith (whom runs the Lunar Forge North of Whiterun) has crafted more Dwarven armour then any Dwarf in history.

Since I found the Orc Ebony mine that resets every ten days rather then the Dwarf cities that reset every 30 I'll be monopolizing Ebony ware very soon.

Does this game require Steam to be connected to the internet in order to play it? I appreciate that it might require an initial connection in order to activate and update it, but what about once the installation is complete?

Nope.

You can do it one of two ways.

Either pull up your Steam loading screen and click 'Go Offline', or ...

Go to C:\Steam\steamapps\skyrim and simply click on the executable there.

I have confirmed on my computer that either of these methods will work.

Excellent, that's what I wanted to hear. Some games won't work like that or simply do not have its own executable.

Thanks!

<sigh>

I don't want to call it being tired. Mostly it's being one of those people that needs to complete most things. I just can't do what I want to do in Skyrim, and that annoys me.

<bigger sigh>

For some reason the game won't allow me to kill both Tullius AND Ulfric and name myself as new High King - er, Queen, and then go out and kill ALL of the Thalmor. I'm still trying to break BACK into the Thalmor embassy by using the backdoor, because I'd really like to wipe all of them out - since it turns out that those elven bastards are responsible for ALL of the problems in both Skyrim and Tamriel.

That sucks - because now that I'm about level 80 (don't actually know, I haven't actually leveled up since I hit level 75 but my experience has kept going up, and I'm nearly maxed out on everything) and I have almost all of the Dragon Shouts ...

I only carry 3 weapons plus ammo with me. Enchanted Daedric bow that adds 31 points of shock and magic damage, as well as a 20% chance to paralyze the target. Ebony arrows. Special enchanted ebony longsword that does 31 points of fire damage, with 20% chance to paralyze target. Special enchanted ebony dagger for soul stealing.

Full set of Dragonscale light armor (or Dragonplate heavy armor, whichever I choose to wear). Boots that increase my stamina regen and increase weight capacity. Helm that increases magic regen and archery ability. Armor that increases archery and one handed ability. Gloves that increase one handed and archery. Shield that increases block and one handed. Enchanted ring and necklace that both increase archery and one handed.

A SINGLE bow shot will do 198 damage, a SINGLE swing of my longsword will do 174. I snuck up on a dragon last night and took him down with single arrow, since it did triple damage.

And what's worse is that while I've completed the main quest - there are still dozens of side quests that I could do. And I'm not sure that I want to do them - since I want to become Emperor and the game won't let me... :(

Skyrim Nexus

Download the Nexus Mod Manager first, then mod the game to your heart's content. Mods were what Oblivion- and by extension Skyrim- are all about.

Already modding the heck out of the game on my PC build.

But I get most of my game time on my Xbox 360 build, so that makes a difference. Still can't mod that one.

I'll probably get more PC going in the near future, as I'm picking up a new monitor for it tomorrow. Found a new 32" TV on sale for $200 with a PC input on it - that ought to be big enough.

Thread is TL:DR, but I say Blasphemy.

You have to try morrowind then, because it was EPIC. The combat system sort of sucked, but the storyline, immersion, and world were WIN.

Still my all time favorite rpg, far and away.

I have a feeling that it will still be such, once I've gotten to know skyrim. Don't get me wrong, Oblivion was beautiful and lots of fun (still play it from time to time) and skyrim is even more so, but morrowind was a "hardcore" rpg. No map compasses to tell you where to go instantly, you actually had to use clues, guesswork, and exploration to find what you needed.

There was nothing more rewarding than finding some ancient uber sword in a far away ancient dwemer ruin or underwater grotto, simply by stumbling onto it.

Man, just talking about it makes me want to play that game again. (sun)

Too bad my kids gotta hold of the cd and scratched the crap out of it. Fortunately, I can probably find it for 10 bucks on line or something, and, ya know, I just might have to do that.:D
