PF-Horus here. Kinda dissapointed with the interaction today. Not sure if the annoyance is because im tired or what but demanding all cargo and making me turn around seems a bit much. The least you could have done is let me continue to cold bay so I could continue my route. But I lost all my profit, all my cargo, and I had to turn around to somewhere that diddnt have any IRP cargo for me to get to even continue playing today. Diddnt even consider a bribe. Just "Drop cargo and turn around" Wouldnt even barter with me. 1/10

Fair point. As I said im at the end of my day and a bit tired so my opinion may be greatly unjustified. I just wish the interaction would have been a bit more organic and longer. Drop your cargo and turn around or die is on par with 2 mill or die in my RP standards. but thats just me

Understandable. As a xeno faction we strive to embody the most accurate depiction of our associated lore from vanilla as possible. I'm afraid that Planetform is usually subject to rough treatment, given their house of origin and the history surrounding Hudson. Regardless, I don't agree with what was done from an in character perspective, it would have been more fitting had your ship simply been destroyed as is suggested by a rumor on Barrow. I will instruct people to make their engagements with clearly foreign ships as quick and painless as possible.

I must however regrettably express that there is nothing that can be done in terms of leniency, xenos typically kill their targets and take what's left behind. And there is typically nothing that can be done as an alternative that would also not compromise on the faction's identity. I know that seems rough, but hopefully the risk we pose encourages the niche of escorts to resurface.

This right here would have been preferrable honestly. I view XA as terrorists and yes IRP they shouldnt have let me live. I honestly would have preferred if he had RPed it such that I couldnt get away. I wish he would have taken my offer of credits as an insult and destroyed me anyway. That would have been a much better interaction than making me turn around.

It's getting confusing where this faction is going, sadly. It is, of crouse, very cool to see that you are stepping up to fight allegedly HF reborn under Harmony flag or whatever is happening in Vespucci. And sure everyone should support Xeno underdogs fighting non-vanilla factions. But slowly it got to the point where I feel that the faction leadership doesn't want to play Xenos as it was intended and declared many times, but becoming a minor HF of its own. Because I already see some sort of edgy variant of the Liberty logo and the Free Republic writeup. With the leader's constant complaints and demands of more stuff for Xenos, I wonder where do we draw the line exactly? What kind of an epic battle are we having exactly? Why does it look like this?

Oh wait, even IN did not declare any sort of republic or political regime. I many times heard from the leader: "Oh, what I am supposed to if they (HF/IN) are literally us, but better?" Is clearly indicates a misconception at the very foundation. Since Xenos, are in fact something along the lines of

The Xenos are a loosely affiliated terrorist organization opposed to any trade or other interaction with foreign entities.

With the current set of the mentality of seeing HF/Insurgency being Xenos but better and constant not satisfied with what Xenos actually are. With constant push for growth and development, this will end up with basically HF, but Xeno IFF. In fact, if Harmony agreed to merge with Xenos and not HF, this would be a much closer perspective.

Sure there's no better alternative and XA should be supported, but I wonder if a leader actually hates NPC faction OF is affiliated with and want it to become something drastically different with such 'development'. It may end up being more detrimental than HF/Harmony, at least HF/Harmony did not touch Xeno NPC and made their own side thing.

I do appreciate the fact that you've taken the time to express genuine and constructive feedback. So I'll address this with all due respect in light of that fact.

First and foremost, the Free Republic write up isn't actually my work. Most of that is just vanilla lore, with added flavor text to suggest what the movement has been doing since its founding in the time line of Freelancer. The Xenos suggested even in the base game, that they wanted to break off and form their own place of refuge, where others like them, who wanted to be left alone were also welcome.

I'm not going to make any attempt at dismissing your concerns outright, because what you've expressed is in all honesty a very legitimate concern and it's something I have considered every time faction development occurs. I do want to state that I have zero intentions of drastically changing the Xenos. I very much want our faction to adhere to its source material, hence why I have invested as much time as I have into reading everything I can find on the NPC faction.

This is part of a dilemma that feels paradoxical. In the past, the Xenos merely abided by whatever they had and were not entitled to much in the way of development. This lead to stagnation and the eventual death of the faction, until of course its recent renaissance. If the faction sees no progress, then it will wither and die, but if it gets too much development then it dies as a concept. I entirely trust that you understand why we must continue to see the faction be developed, as the alternative leads to complacency, stagnation, redundancy and finally death.

What I will do, is that I will temper the nature of how this faction develops, to avoid a case of too much happening too quickly. As stated previously, my sole intention is to play the Xenos as they have been written and represented in Freelancer. The nature of discovery as a mod has of course made this a little difficult. In that regard, I feel forced to strike a balance between no change and of course as you expressed, too much change. The consequences of both are very much something I seek to avoid. To back up these words with action, I will put in place a system through which faction HC can veto an aspect of our development, if it contradicts xeno lore.

I want to close by sincerely thanking you for taking the time to express all of this, and to have done so sincerely and without mincing your words. I respect that on a personal level. I give you my word that I have been truthful in expressing all of the above, and promise you that I have no intention, nor will ever actively pursue, developments which ruin what the Xenos are meant to be as per lore. If this answer has for any reason proved insufficient or not satisfactory, I'll make myself available for as many follow ups as it takes for it to be sufficient.

That's an overly detailed reply that is not really required, sure everything is good and under control. I don't think someone thanked and appreciated me so much in one message, I appreciate you back. I don't doubt your good intentions, furthermore, you pulled and carried this interaction of XA- and probably spent more time thinking about it than me. The trend I described, is still present over many months.

The Free Republic was mentioned in one of the vanilla rumors, but it was your decision to make a full writeup and accelerate it on a visual level that replaced the previous snaky logo. This by itself is not a bad thing, but it highlights a certain mindset.

You once again make the wrong assumption that ingame activity is strictly tied to story development, not for the faction of the Xeno scale that is. Major events are most important for the military and intel factions. For example, LPI did not get any major story developments ever, yet, the activity is there, RP happens, life flows. The development in current outlines of it is usually harming small factions which I've told you many times before.

You still sound unhappy about what Xenos are even in this message. I understand the desire to develop something and can imagine a man who would have energy and some degree of talent to push it with staff. Naturally, Xenos becoming second HF is just a rhetorical figure, that won't happen. A real example would be the Unioners and their endless race to become as big or challenge the Hessians. I assure you they had and probably still have a lot of arguments that would be quite similar to yours, and these arguments would even be intellectually fair and understandable because someone else is stronger and having more toys. UN| also played with a lot of ideologies and Xeno is turning into a political movement and almost none of socio-economic terrorism is left.

No doubt that leading factions like Xenos or Unies is hard, but you also have to really love them as a leader. Not as the base to run a session of your favorite political ideology simulation and steal toys from other kids' sandbox. UN with their weird-ass syndicalism and HF with their Libertarian-Socialism will once more serve as a good example of where that leads, alongside their desire to get more toys to play with. Normally, behind the desire for change that you openly express, there's a clear lack of happiness and love with what you already have. This is why I assumed that you are not very happy with what Xenos are. So it's just that one concern.
