Ending the Capship Issue(and more)

Eppy is pretty much the queen/king/SnM dominatrix of the outcasts (never quite understood outcast politics, since you guys are all dark and gloomy, though you might have a leader in leather tights and a whip).

*Ahem.* I prefer white cotton tights, heavier white skirts extending to approximately three and one-half inches above the knees, the standard Supreme Commander's white breastcoat and, when it's cold, the blood-red-with-golden-gallons wool greatcoat. Also, my hair is not dyed; this light blue is natural, and the texture (do NOT touch my hair, EVER again, or I will have you shot, so help me God) is not engineered. Blame the Cardamine for making me more beautiful than your puny self. NOW FINISH SWABBING THAT DECK, SOLDIER, AND STOP LOOKING UP MY SKIRT! *BANG! Ting-ting-ting...* Oh, sh*t. As far as faction leaders being the absolute rulers of their ID's and equipment, no, they are not. They own the guard system, and that's all they own. Technically they don't even own the ships that are produced there once you get that ship out of that system.

The server rules do not prohibit us from restricting capital ships, as we have been doing so for the past three months in various stages. The Rheinland Military, a faction with two Administrators as high-ranking members, has been enforcing a much more right-wing policy than ours for much longer, as has the KNF. If we were not allowed to do so most of the major server factions would have been banned in their entirety by now. I'm sorry, but I don't know how to make this any more crystal clear; I mean, I've already shot the glass in half a dozen places and kicked it through.

Actually, i was denied a hessian cruiser when i asked RHA for the rights to purchase one ^_^ But i took it like a good sport and even incorporated it into my RP as having had the "pleasure" to buy a first generation Hessian Cruiser (Rheinland Pirate cruiser).

That's the point, there's always a way to incorporate the whole "denied" thing into your RP and maybe prove yourself to be worthy the honor of flying a faction capital ship in the future.

I can point out that registering cap ships in no way helps prevent oorp, and that this is far more about a power trip than it is about server oorpness.

Asking people to register is not asking people to RP, right?

Also no one is being asked to register, they are being told to register, right?

And it isn't up to eppy, you or anyone else how I rp anyway. If you see me break a server rule you can report me, other than that anything you do to control me is a power trip, plain and simple.

I've seen good servers go down the tubes when the clans start thinking they own the server, and that everyone else is meaningless and it would be a shame if that happened here as well.

Im just going to say that im giving in to the powers that be, out of respect for the community at large and maybe to earn a brownie point, i registered the only "capships" within my influence. 2 Indy Huntress Cruisers.

However i do want to ask, or mention, one thing. Slightly off topic but.

I can assure you none of us faction leaders have the time to go over hundreds of posts, and still, we will make the time and go over them, cause that is the binding contract to this registration.

I realy don't see how your ideals will be shattered and your status diminish by writing a small story or even writing down a link to you story.

Some people prolly feel the same about factions and the many different places all of your various threads are.

Is there anyway the factions could each get thier own subforum in the discorvery rp factions area?

Then put all the threads related to that specific faction into that factions own subforum? So that if i wanted to research the corsairs for example, then i simply goto the faction subforum for corsairs and everything "corsair related" is right there, storys for faction capships, faction recruitment, laws, various info. All right there in one place under the label "Corsair Faction Forum" or something of the like. This would also help people determine which factions are heavily RP'ed and which ones are relatively ignored.

Just a thought i guess. Its hard to sift through a bunch of different threads to find the one specific one your looking for.

I've had a similar thought, regarding the off site forums...Now, this may be more than the forums could handle (At times they stutter with the current workload), but if they can, it would be great to have actuall subforums for the factions, which only the people in the faction could access, and a portal to that, where we could post our public stuff. If nothing else, it would keep all the things in one place, hence organizing it a bit.

IT has become painfully obvious that most everyone at this point has LOST Sight of the point of this thread. It is NOT to debate the topic of indies vs Factions, but to create a more efficient Rules page and INFORMING NEWBIES!!!! :angry:

At this point I am stuck between two options. I will either request that this topic be locked or that moderators delete all posts that wander back into this issue after this post. I am sickened by the fact that many groups are demanding such things and not taking a peaceful route to resolution.

At this point I will take the right to make the last word as a non-moderator on this OFF-TOPIC ARGUMENT as this THREAD was started by ME. Indie ships should register, however all Factions should take it upon themselves to resolve the issue in a peaceful manner. THIS MEANS Directing people to the forums, giving SPECIFIC Links to help them. Being in a faction is no excuse to be a dick. PLAYER FRIENDLY doesn't equal Faction whoring. :rtfm:

This wouldn't even be CLOSE to the level of the problem it is now if the information was presented in a neat organized manner not a bunch of thread links (Not Baggin on that work Del. Praise you So much for it. Just needs to be better)..

But NO, Factions bomber whore or cap whore the indies when these indies are more then a little peeved to have spent DAYS working to get a cap ship and suddenly some jerk hole (yes I said it because it should NEVER become so rude as I have seen it in liberty and can only imagine elsewhere.) in a faction that perhaps this player doesn't even know EXISTS decides to tell him to lose the ship or be spam destroyed until he leaves. (Unfortunately, Player ill-knowledge is not on this topic is not their Fault. I STILL don't know all the acronyms for factions and who's player faction is connected to which NPC faction. The forums MUST be fixed to solve this as well as players in factions being more helpful.)

An example would be the [SA] Southern Alliance (Liberty Navy Player faction). When I first joined this server i played nights. the SA almost doesn't exist at that time. If for whatever reason I had decided to trade till I could afford a carrier and license and then some SA told me I couldn't fly it cause they said so. I wouldn't hesitate to tell him to shove off. If they wanted to spam kill me I wouldn't have any qualms about just logging on when they aren't around or outright ignoring them. Now if he ASKED me to register it and provide a back story I wouldn't mind putting my flying on hold until I wrote a nice long one out.

At this point the problems are MORE on the Factions then on the indies. However, KNOWLEDGED Indies have no excuse to not write some RP or register. Because you have been informed.

BTW informing an indie in a manner such as.. "WTF you doing? your not allowed to fly that ship. Its not registered, sell ship, apply for registration before we blow you out of the sky.." or any other insulting aggressive manner is COMPLETELY unacceptable and undermines the pleasant player friendly atmosphere this server is SUPPOSE to give out.

As a Faction you are suppose to set the expectation, not be the example of what is Poor consideration for others.

An example for those who would like to be an Indie Liberty Navy Ship [LNS] I encourage to Rp along the lines as a member of one of the battle Groups in the Northern Fleet. Which is a non-existent group that would represent the Colorado system. Heck an idea that I am going to use for my cap ships is that I am a simple working on it and working up through the ranks of the ship as I go.

Use unique ideas and surprise everyone. If your like me and want to try ships out on the forum make a Fun account and use your ship ONLY in Connecticut.

Now back to the Topic. Does anyone have an idea or two that can help to make the forums more helpful and clarify. Especially on some of the more... volatile topics.
