Doc was confused. He hadn't seen this before. He could only yell to him, being firm yet non-threatening. "Kierin! KIERIN! Look at me!" He paused a moment, instinctively reaching for a sedative loaded hypo, "What cannot be?" he demanded as he tried to get him settled down on the bed.

Doc was fit but wasn't the strongest man around, This man was strong, stronger than he could probably handle in his state. He called for one of his bodyguards, a very strong man himself.
"Hold him!" Doc ordered.
As he did, Doc hit him with a hypo. It was painless and almost instantaneous. He could only hope that it would help.

Kierin calmed down, passing into a state of requiescence. Slowly closing his eyes and opening them, he kept muttering under his breath.

"More blue... purple. Time is... too long to be gone. Don't recognize roo... Doc? Peaceful... then pain. He haunts... Must follow."

Looking around again during the brief moment where his eyes fluttered open, he saw a body of a large man holding him down, and in the distance Doc Holliday. As his attempts at moving were hindered by the man, he stared at Doc, eyes started to glaze over as he soon fell asleep.

As he laid in bed asleep, Kierin had his mind enveloped with thoughts of despair and hopelessness. Though no clearly defined images manifested themselves, the feelings associated with the flashes of blues and purples were intense.

*Stop... please. Please stop* he kept pleading. His thoughts filtered to nothing as the swirl of color increased in speed and intensity. *PLEASE!!! I will do anything. Just let is stop!* he tried once more, tears starting to trickle out of his closed eyes.

In blinding flash, the colors stopped. Not disappearing, the colors formed a shape in what seemed like an incredible distance away. The shape approached him, and while he tried to turn and run in his sub-conscious, the shape was always in the direction he was facing. Faster and faster the shape approached him, until he was able to start to make out a distinct shape. A human, an adult... with glowing purple eyes. Standing just out of his vision's range to make out any discernible features, the figure pointed at him and stared.

*Wha... what do you want?* The figure stood still, his finger still pointing at him. After what seemed like an eternity of uneasiness, the figure slowly lowered his hand. Bewildered by what was occurring, Kierin tried once more to look away and run. It was of no use, for just as soon as he turned away, the figure was in front of his face.

A screech was heard, as the shadowy arms launched towards him. As soon as the hands made contact with Kierin's skin, a bright flash enveloped him, and darkness replaced all. No more pain, no more terror, no more color. Darkness was all that was left.

Opening his eyes, Kierin could not help but weep, silently thanking whomever heard his cries for an end to his torment. As he wept, he saw the room empty. No Doc, no guard. Just him.

A new sensation and feeling swept over him. Slow at first, but powerful nonetheless. For the first time in his life, he felt alone. Truly alone...

This headache has been getting worse and I should really get some sleep. One extra for the shift and I'm done for today. Walking through the hall I met Katie from the reception, she seem tired as much, asked me why am I still around this late hour.

"Shift is almost over, just one last patient. John went off and some of his patients are now my burden. I just hope he'll be back soon enough."

Sometimes I wonder if John realizes there is a stretch to how much we all can do. There ain't enough personnel to take care of as many patients. And the number keeps growing, we get more coming than those we patch up and send back. Can't help all even if we could. Sure he funds a lot himself, but for how long really? Probably a year more, but after that I guess it'll be back to Los Angelos or who knows where else.

Just one more and it's done. Let's see... Captain Kierin. Well, nothing here, nothing interesting there. Semi-comatose state, occasional violent outbursts. That's pretty serious sedatives there through. Why giving such strong stuff? Wait. A type 9 encounter. Notes from the Order. The sudden realization startled me and I pretty much forgot about glass of wine before I'd take off. Isn't that one of those... how is this man alive even?

The door softly slided off.

The patient was awake and turned to me as I had approached his bed. Well, this is quite a surprising improvement over what John told me before about a week ago. I have observed him for a few moments to gather if he'll try something wrong.

"How are you doing? I'm Karl and I'll be helping you to recover while John is gone."

I readied my PDA to take notes as I took seat nearby. Recover... one's lucky to survive but to recover...

Doc entered Kierin's room as part of his rounds. He had his bag with him. Today, Kierin was calm so it seemed. He noticed Karl in the room with a note pad.

"Kallisti, Karl," he said, "I hope our patient is doing well. Please, continue with your analysis and we can share notes later."
Doc then reached into his bag and produced a medical tricorder and began scanning Kierin.
"I promise this won't hurt a bit," he explained, "I'll be comparing findings now with what I have on file."
He scanned every vital sign he had, every difference within his body from head to toe, vascular to neurological and a deep tissue scan that would find anything....or anyone...hiding within. After a few minutes, he shut the scan down and began reading his analysis and comparisons. In the middle of it, he looked upon Kierin with a caring look, "So, how do you feel today and what can I do to make things better?"
