Sure, I agree. It's better to go trough 10 Wilde fighters, 20 Outcast and Corsair pirates, 50 Blood Dragon and GC pirates and unstable JH then to prolong your way trough Frankfurt.
Don't make excuses for non RP routes. If you are a smuggler - you can use it and it will fit your RP.
I don't mean a smuggler because of the Smuggler ID, but because you'r smuggling something.
If you are not, go trough Frankfurt if you want to avoid OORPness.
That simple.

We do know what happened in the single-player story, when the Osiris jumped from Omicron Minor to the Nomad's Lair System. The Jumphole collapsed, because of the Osiris' mass. They almost didn't make it.
Also, in SP, King says that you should use JH's only when you have no other option, since they are very unstable.
So, by the story, they are unsafe, like it or not.
Now you can change that to shape your (OO)RP, but that sucks.

If you look at pirate NPCs, take Corsairs for example you'll notice there are no freighter/transport NPCs. Pirates don't use transports! Now, to prove my point, fly to Omicron Theta, you see the Freeport? Good, fly to it. You'll notice a shed-load of Titans milling around. Use the Comms tool to find out about their name, usually they'll come back with 'This is Freighter Gold 11, we're shipping food rations to..' SP Pirates use fighters to move goods! That means they won't destabilize the JHs they travel through. I think the Pirates in SP would have tried to take transports through, but got slingshotted into a sun or something, so they didn't try again.
Now, for the purpose of the mod, this concept was bulldozed completely due to balance. For the sake of game mechanics, JHs cannot collapse, unless Igiss closes a JH for the next mod release, which is a close as it gets. believe this is another one we have M$ to thank for, I heard in another thread that Phase-Aligning was a feature that got scrapped.

so, what trader would choose option one.
Nice Firefly/Serenity link Jinx:)I'm gonna be thinking of the Dragons as Reavers for months now:P

Umm yes they do know about it. How else are they building the JG that the Blood Dragons keep attacking. BTW I do so hate how my RP has been shot to hell by this little farce. I RP as an information trader as well as a merchant. I trade info about Kusari as well as supplies to the Blood Dragons in return for safe passage.
**note that just cause I don't post it here on the forums doesn't mean I don't.. I suck major at forum posts so I tend to avoid them...**
I did some caculations and you have a better profit/time ratio taking the tradelanes to new tokyo and back when using the Sigma13/NB jumphole only. The Kyushu route that some seem to use is slower than using the tradelanes. I myself have never made the run and will not make it. Risking some wild NPCs is OK but now way am I going to touch a guard system.

THERE'S A HOKKAIDO-cHOGOKU jUMPGATE CONSTRUCTION SITE AROUND. sOMEONE KNOWS ABOUT IT.
People go through Chugoku in this run? Why???? I don't see how it's faster.
Carlos Rivera: Corsair Brotherhood Pirate - Retired, shifted to Tripoli Shipyard's Research and Development engineering teams Anthony Cameron: Guild Core Bounty Hunter - Killed in Action, committed suicide after being trapped in Omicron Minor following its destruction Juan Ruiz: Outcast Ghost of Razgriz Pirate - Killed in Action, killed by the Sirius Coalition Revolutionary Army during Bretonian piracy raid Michael Winchester: Liberty Security Force Agent - Missing in Action, likely killed during Rheinland espionage mission or trapped in Rheinland Space Eric McCormick: Order Pilot - Retired, shifted to planetside training of new recruits

It isn't, some people forget to take into consideration that they're going through three extra systems and that Chugoku is filled with cruise-disruptor equipped NPCs and PCs.

As for why? I call it stupidity.
It actually is shorter. If you have a train of any kind, your cruise will go undisrupted. It's also easier on the trader - Starting from the S-13 jump hole, you move approximately 110k or so to get to Planet Kyushu. Passing through a total of three jumpholes, you only have to press F2/F3 three times. Much easier than taking... 1 + 3 + 3 + 1 = 8 lanes, all of which are disruptable by NPCs. Also, if you're tabbed out for too long and overshoot a lane, it's a pain to get back in.
