No. Just stop. It's not a good idea, however good your intentions may be.

Uh...size of a liner with the maneuverability of a LF? Lolwut?

Also Larger ships take exponentially more energy to move, thus why large ships are slow in FL.

The rare sub-species of human that gives out info that nobody actually cares about...

If anything, attribute "space air resistance" to space dust, solar winds and/or gravity wells of... well... everything.
Physics at its most basic, disregard this being FL.
"everything is supposed to have a gravitic pull"
Even your body.
Some of these gravitic pulls are just negligible.

One of these days, there will be a clever, stylish and/or funny signature here.
This is still not that day, however.

Seems to ridiculous to be a realistic idea that could be implemented. I give you thumbs up for thinking the idea through in detail, but it seems a bit too ludicrous.

I give you credit for thinking outside the box and offering your idea to the community.
But.....
With that being said your idea is both impractical and illogical (for all the previously mentioned reasons). Realism aside that is just not the sort of project a government would invest in. Too many resources used for too little gain.

I stated- a faction, not neccesarily a government.

and if you look at the price/performance ratio of ships in disco, youll realize that disco is all about Too many resources used for too little gain.

case in point:

price of 10 camaras compared to a whale = 20mil vs 70mil, combined cargo space of 10 camaras = 6000 cargo vs 5000 cargo, the chance for the survival and safe delivery of cargo of 10 camaras vs pirates etc is > than the whale, plus you have 50ms more cruise speed and 0 problems with docking. The only reason ppl arent using 10 camaras but are using 1 whales is because of a lack of manpower, which is the only excuse for ships being so relatively expensive.

If prices of ships in disco are to be taken in-rp-ly, then it would make no sense whatsoever for any faction that has the sufficient manpower to construct any large ship at all - assuming equal pilot skill level, $50mil worth of fighters will rape a gb, $200 mil worth of gb will rape a 200mil cruiser, $500 mil worth of cruiser will rape a 500mil BS. And $500mil worth of fighters - assuming the server can handle that much and there actually are that many ppl online- will definitely rape a $500mil BS.

the point is that this Too many resources for too little gain thing is actually not an issue at all - Armor pricing is a perfect example, yet even before betatestcash there were tons of CAU7/CAU8 ships of all factions and variations just lyin around.

From the replies I realize that the most issues here are to do with agility, therefore op updated to become less ridiculous.

It's still very ridiculous.

The reason i said it was too many resources for too little gain was because of the suicide tactics you referred to. Why would a government spend all those resources on a huge ship that would essentially be thrown away. And even factions have governments even if it is a just a single leader. Once again i give you credit for proposing the idea it is just not feasible.

ah, but self destruct only happens when you are near death- remember that this ship's health is 90% shields and 10% hull which means that it will almost fully regenerate once you stop getting hit (which you will be able to do so since you have high speed). The only time to justify using your kamikaze is when you've lost your shields/ or if you for some reason cant possibly escape, and in the case of losing your shields if you lost your shields you are as good as dead, there's just that tiny window of opportunity to fire your weapon before you explode anyway. honestly, does nobody here understand the meaning of "last resort"? D:
during the rh-li conflict, tons of caps exploded their crew lost, doesn't that count as throwing away too? I'm sure a cap is just as expensive, if not more, especially considering all the facilities on the cap designed to support its hundreds of crew, along with the crew's personal possessions etc all lost in a single pewfest. With this ship, the casualties of pewfest would inrp be reduced from 13054 to 5, the cost of the ship roughly the same.

No atmosphere? GTFO.
The propeller is the greatest invention of all time.

Hulls are usually stronger than shields in discovery.
And stock freelancer.
And shields don't regen quickly.
And there's such a thing as shieldbusters.

And the fact that you speak of a last resort means it's taken into account that this ship might not make it.
Usually one builds ships to last.

On a side note: the more sophisticated an AI, the more expensive.
Data storage may be a lot cheaper now than 10 years back, but developing a sophisticated AI is actually more expensive. A ship of roughly gunboat/cruiser size running on full auto but adhering to certain restrictions while thinking for itself (because it'll be working independently of you) would cost such a ridiculous amount to have it operate itself, even if you kept the engineers onboard for maintenance/monitoring.

Keep in mind automated machines are not AI.
An automated coffee maker technically doesn't need any programming other than "this is how long you should heat after the button is pressed"

An AI ship needs to calculate a lot of math, distinguish foe from friendly, understand its own position in space (and time).
The math in particular concerns travel, probability, speed, normal enemy behaviour, leading targets, how much of a beating it can still take....

To name an example.

Also, not everyone is a big damn hero like Lt. Walker from the stock campaign...

One of these days, there will be a clever, stylish and/or funny signature here.
This is still not that day, however.
