It's actually the size of the body that makes a ship an easy target. Curved wings give it a shape that allows shots to sometimes pass through the open space.
Just look at the old Waran. there were plenty of bombers that, including wingspan, were significantly larger, but the shape of the Waran's body is what made it an easy target.

the top fin on a titan loves to chew mines. large wings in dog-fights are a hindrance.
however, this could be an excellent addition to the transport line - 3200 cargo, and a tad more manoeuvrable than a firefly, would be interesting
