No, the point is to take it seriously enough to Tell A Decent Story, and to do that you have to be true to what that story entails. If that involved something that would necessarily result in death, carnage, and unsavory moral dilemmas then you should have the intellectual honesty to carry it through to the conclusion, without sugar coating it, dumbing it down, or glossing over the bad parts in favor of the good. Not taking it seriously, from this perspective, would be like claiming the above Nazi-esque party is "100% angelic, can do no wrong, is perfect in every way, the propaganda is all true." The alternative of not taking it seriously, of not doing the legwork to figure out how it works, how it would react to circumstances, and where it would lead, would result in a pointless group like a monarchist faction. "Nobody knows or cares about it because it's fundamentally not any different or special than the existing bog-standard factions."

Why is it that people treat Hollywood Nazis "seriously" even when they're being two dimensional, disposable cookie-cutter bad guys? But then when some depth is added to them it's scoffed at?

Funny, the only controversy is that I dare to commit Thought Crime, whereas on my end there isn't a controversy at all. I wanted to tell a story and was shot down for a myriad of flimsy excuses. And that's not even scratching the surface of the very notion that "controversy must be avoided." Frankly I find that notion Disgusting, because it's proscription for a gag order.

A person may as well roleplay as a character that represents everything one disgusts, although that is not in any way an easy effort.

It is if you're actually distinguishing between the author and the story, which for me is as easy as breathing. My only objective is to do it as realistically as possible, both the good and the bad. What good is a role poorly played? That's bad comedy.

By the way, I wasn't saying I would've made the faction, I only said I would've liked the idea of making that faction, although I wouldn't have been involved in it, except the occasional encounter with them ingame.

But even if it has one, nothing will come of it because of how this place is run, and the way its members generally think. Then again, there's no lack of far left factions. It's amusing that you cite a need for a "nostalgic faction" when I'm at a loss to find a single opponent on the conservative or Right side of things. But in the end, that's also a result of living in our times.

No, I take the term "serious" and I equate it with "That's cool, do it, just try not to show that you actually support what your character is doing. And even then, make your character's actions have a slightly "light" tone to them, but without going in some bidimensional Hollywoodian representation of nazism you mentioned". Distinguishing between the author and the story is indeed easy as breathing, roleplaying as something that not also you are not, but you're completely opposed to is quite hard. At least to me, I'd always feel the urge to somehow "correct" that fucked up guy I just created. Of course, if I actually do "correct" the guy, I'm miserably failing at roleplaying.
