Guys, do yourselves a favor and reinstall Windows completely in case of virus infestation. Chances are extremely high that a clean up won't be 100% succesful, even if the programs tells you so. Also make sure that all other forms of hard disks or USB drives are free of malware as well. Oh and I also hope you're behind a router with a hardware firewall.

As far as background anti viruses go, I think Microsoft Security Essentials does the job especially since it doesn't bog down the system. Besides, Common Sense™ 2014 is the best virus protection.
Also, Unlucky_Soul, you should really upgrade to Windows 7 at least. Windows XP is obsolete and insecure.

Yes i had that in mind. will do after i make a back up of all things necessary
