Yes,you can pirate them.... but touch a zoner and you get a horde of drama queens on your trail.... when i was member of the renegades i saw bazillions of zoner powertraders that we weren't able to pirate for faction rp. Imo was more convenience than anything , as we staged most raids on gamma from Corfu....

I hate to be that guy but every single sentence here is false and wrong in so many different ways that i have to say it.
Actually, the Corsair food reliance is part of vanilla, see news items on Crete. And I recall a time when Zoner food shipments to Crete were a normal thing. While this may have been before your time, saying that it never happened is demonstrably false.
I am here for pew, so it would have little sense to be a Zoner.
Besides that, the Aquilon strafes up and down well, while I am better at left and right.
I dont play a zoner and never played one. Never understood their RP besides trading and stuff. When there was that "war" sometime back, when they had a bounty on their heads, i understood it. Until that time, no one would or could pirate a zoner because of their RP, pirate and zoner relations. They could have all those caps and all, but their real "power" were the freeports were most pirates would dock. So, nowadays i dont see much zoners (althought i just returned after sometime out), and my feeling stays the same as when i started, good for powertrading faction only.
Nowadays a zoner for me is "meh" ok, "hail" - "hail" etc.

FREEPORT 9 -- Corsairs and Zoners get along together reasonably well because of the large quantities of Corsair Food produced on Freeport 9, but there is some question as to whether operations like it will continue to be allowed to operate so freely by the Corsairs. The presence of Bounty Hunters in Zoner freeports has been the source of mounting tension between the Corsairs and their deliberately neutral neighbors.

CRETE -- The Family Elders of Crete are discussing plans regarding the construction of biodomes. If successful, Corsairs would never have to worry about the Food shortages that have plagued our people for the 800 years since we were cast upon Crete. In recent years famine has not been a major issue for the Corsairs due to the wealth brought in from the Artifact trade and piracy. But the problem would be completely alleviated with the addition of biodomes, which could sustain the entire population for a fraction of the price now required.

CRETE -- Many Corsairs believe that it is no longer necessary to tolerate the Zoner presence in Omicron Gamma's sister system. There is concern that they allow Bounty Hunters to come too close to the home world. It has also been argued that the biodomes in Freeport 9 could be salvaged after the Zoner expulsion and used to grow food solely for Corsairs. Right now the Zoners enjoy relative safety in Omicron Theta, but that could soon change.

So let's recap shall we:
In vanilla the corsairs, had a bad year when they sacrificed the Ventru line but that was ages ago, these days they are having problems with food because they are expanding so fast. And because of that they Tolerate the zoners for now but they will surely kill them all when they finally built their own biodomes, or sooner. They will only rely on zoners IF and only IF they lose the war with the hessians.

NO zoners do/did none of those things.
And i can demonstrate with facts that every other line in the original quote is false.
I chose to play a zoner character because I was not interested in PVP. Moreover, zoner are known to be peaceful, so it let you RP with almost anybody (you can even have friendly RP with people being hostile like corsairs and outcasts). Finally, I liked to trade with my zoner ships because I had a lot of possible profitable trade routes (so when I was bored with one, I could easily switch to another one).
To add my two cents:
I perfectly agree to say Zoners are not essential to any faction. It might have been true in the past that zoner supplies were important to Corsairs (in vanilla). But it is clearly different now on disco (since there is no constrain in the game to force such relationship). And regarding cardamine, zoners are completely out of the map, since the business is heavily supported by Lane Hackers and Liberty Rogues (I think it was already the case in vanilla).
Like most said, it was to give myself a bit peace n quiet when things go ape on other faction chars, when there
was nowhere else to run safe but times change eh, not so neutral with folk these days, not that that's a bad thing.
