Visually I like all three, but I definitely like the styling of the L'ane the most, raba probably comes in second with the firefly third.
Firefly Pros:
-I used to always fly the original firefly on my junker, so I'm familiar with it's stats (as long as they havent changed)
-It's very bulky/beasty looking, looks tough (though I know it really isnt)
-If it's anything like the original model, it's even decent for piracy or fighting off pirates flying transports
-Good cargo space @ 3500 units
-Most manuverable of the 3
-Easy to justify use by someone who may lean towards unlawful things here and there, even if he mostly does lawful-ish stuff
Firefly Cons:
-The ship model looks a little too big for what my character would use. It's clearly got several large decks and window sets
-If it's anything like the original modelm, it can probably only fire 4 turrets forward and 4 backwards, which makes for low concentration of firepower
Raba Pros:
-More aggressive (most aggressive, perhaps) model, but this could also be a con for my character's theme
-Pretty manuverable, good gun setup, more offensive than the others
-Doesnt look too large, only a few window sets, makes for a reasonably sized vessel
-Best powercore of the three, with almost double the power capacity and regen
-Best hull strength of the three
-More bats/bots than the others
Raba Cons:
-Used by the hogosha/farmers alliance. My character, while not a junker himself, has ties to junkers (he's played off as the son of my old disco character, Christopher Thorn, who was probably on the hitlist of every kusarian over the age of 5). Cant really justify it's use.
-Only available in a guard system for a faction I'll probably never be friendly with.
-Very small cargo space, at 1800 units the smallest of the three.
L'ane Pros:
-Probably the best looking ship, IMO, of the three. Something about it just snaps with me.
-Best cargo hold of the three, at 4000 units.
-Has slots for hyperspatial drive and docking bay, two toys in disco I've never had the chance to try out.
-Looks like it has decent firepower at 7 turrets, depends on the arcs
-Even though it probably is large, it doesnt look too big due to limited window decks
L'ane Cons:
-Not sure if it can be used outside of gallia, though I'm hoping so. Infocard doesnt say it's in use by any other factions, but does mention it's found it's way into the council's hands, and it's sold at a council base.
-Lowest manuverability of the three
-Highest cost of the three

Question: can the l'ane transport be used outside of gallia by independent ID's?
Why would it be forbidden? You can, of course, use it.. the houses probably won't be that happy... look at their laws. But there is no ooRP rule against using it outside of Gallia.
Edit: Yeah... ID limits, misread that "independant ID" part... it may be used, but not by an independant ID.
The Junker ID would allow it. But would the junker ID kill the core, or be oorp with the ship?
Raba has 3150 cargo hold, gunboat power core and can use gunboat turrets. It also costs 107 mill making it the most expensive.
Note that neither l'Ane nor Raba have CD slots (in case you are going to pirate on your own). The Hyperspatial slot on the l'Ane is useless as that equipment requires 100 000 power core. Using it with a Junker ID would indeed reduce the power to 10%.
Use FLStat instead of the Wiki for ship and equipment stats.
Guess I'll have to go with the firefly/serenity then, unless there's new ships not noted on the wiki that might be more suitable. Really wish someone would update that thing.
Quote:3. As mentioned above, I'm a privateer/indy spacer of sorts. Think opportunistic smuggler, scavenger, plunderer, mercenary, freelancer, courier, trader, and even the occasional act of pie-racy.
Just mentioning...you might find it hard to find a specific ID that allows you to do all of things on one singular vessel. You cannot pirate on a Freelancer ID, for example. Nor can you work for just anybody if your ID doesn't allow it.
Perfect rep: restart Junkers. Droprep. Buy Freelancer ID/IFF. The only downside (at least this was the case formerly, when I made my characters) is that the Hogosha and Xenos hate you. Kusari frowns at your existence, but lets you pass. Again, at least last time I checked.
Also, the l'Ane's picture is deceptive. The cargo box on the bottom is actually quite large and hideous and the ship isn't as svelte as the angle of the picture might suggest. I bought one a version or two ago thinking it was sexy as well. I sold it after three hours of flight because I was so disappointed with how it looked. I think you made a good decision with the Serenity.
