YEAR 1

Our glorious heroes of Technogeist, Reidft, Drrobe, Void_Nemesis, Moveit56, Tal and Carter all set out to build an outpost for the glory of their empire, set to expand their lands and bless them with rich dwarven booze and masterful crafts! They encountered a large and deep river, just when their supplies were about to run out, thus being forced to set up shop right there on the spot.

Sadly, the lands they had claimed as their new home were not as peaceful as they thought and one of the bulls destined to pull their wagon got slaughtered by an evil creature lurking in the running, rapid, foaming waters, fully stranding them there.

They began their new fortress by moving all of the goods away from the dangerous river, while Technogeist and Reid started carving out the first pathways into the nearby mountain, destined to be the new roof over their heads, while Moveit, Tal and Carter were quick to plant the raspberry seeds they had in stock for later. Moveit was quick to show the skills with his axe and start felling trees, preparing the ample stock of lumber the keep would need to build all the essentials for later.

Spring came and went with the first outlines of the fortress being made through sweat and many broken pick handles, both Technogeist and Reid becoming more and more skilled with every chip into the solid stone beneath the mountain.

We also have encountered some useful minerals right underneath our embark site, which made everyone quite happy- but not as much as the rooms and a bed to sleep in. With that Summer came....

TO BE CONTINUED.

Looks like I will need to wait till I migrate to a better net connection later today to upload this. Anyway, we are nearing mid-year now and the first migrant wave should be coming soon. So step up and volunteer to have your name etched into this fortresses history! As an epic contributor or its downfall.

You're bound to get one of the useless peasant-dwarfs that has like, legendary Potash Making or something else useless. I'll volunteer as one of those.

If you end up getting all actually -useful- dorfs, I'd like to probably be one of your military dorfs if you end up making one this quickly.

I think this would be a lot better done in the same style the official DF forums do it (namely, text - either iRP or ooRP - with screenshots of how the fort is going/points of interest in the fortress). Dwarf Fortress really isn't that exciting to watch twenty-minute long videos of - especially as any decent fort is going to drag on and on and on and on.

Also, have you considered making this a succession game? Assuming there's enough DF players around here, that could be interesting. In fact, it'd be even more interesting with a few people who have no clue what they're doing thrown into the mix (:

Dunno, quite frankly I've never done a succession game, no. As far as for the videos, they are lengthy sure, but for me personally, I've never had a problem with that. Which is why I upload both- the video and a summary of the thing.

Anyway, I did not get the chance to further this yesterday, but will do today.

So in short, I accidentally the save file.....

Should I redo or...? What would be more interesting to watch. Or shall I go after Omi's suggestion and update a thread via images and text, rather than 20min long videos.

Redo in the style of boatmurdered.

Lots of swearing, lots of violence, lot of insane creations like the flood-the-world lava fountain.

I'm just sayin'

Alternatively, a fortress in a haunted zone. Except maybe editing the RAWs so hair from dead animals doesn't reanimate.
