Okay, I get it. Maybe you could post that with/in a biography for your leader character? It's nice when the faction leader has a nicely set up bio for his character as well. Good example for the recruits.
And trust me, I am working on a backstory. I have a lot of RP time in with certain people and they will get a say and part in it, and that has to be co-ordinated across the pond and all.
And put up what you (and the others) come up with here too. Sometimes putting all your cards on the table per se on the proposal is a harsh step. It's good to have it all on the table in the feedback thread, get the flaws worked out (or burned to the ground sometimes, as long as the end result is nice, eh?), and then put it up for proposal when everything is much cleaner.
Ok, I have reviewed the suggestions and the rules once again. Aside from the backstory, is there anything in this proposal that needs work or admin approval before we start to move on?
In the next 24 hours (tonite after work) I plan to work on the mission statement and possibly the home base. I am thinking the Hawaii would be better as we are small yet and while curacao and the hawaii both allow smugglers, it is more obvious in the case of the Hawaii as they actually sell contraband.
I would really like admin and other RP'ers opinion on this (everything so far) before we move on with anything, as it if is not approved/approvable it will require changing the backstory, which is not a good thing.
Me, earlier. Wrote:Also, you really should remove the house and BHG ships for now. Houses don't sell their war vessels to just anyone, especially not a shady trading company. And the BHG are the same, they build their own ships, and are quite stingy with them. You'd need some discussion and diplomatic agreements for these ships in RP.
<cough>
Havok Mk-II aside. That one is made by a corporation, so it's a bit more permissable.
Snubby? Did you remember to ask the RM about that one?

I still dont see any backstory for the faction, how can we judge it without being able to review it. All I see in your sig is links to another forum with a blurb about the chars there. There is not enough background for a faction here. That along with no weapons list, and your ship's are still way out of whack, and i havent seen any discussion with the RM or BAF about the use of thier ships.
Quote:a. Avoid being pirated at all costs. Do not sacrafice a load of cargo to stop and chat. If you are being pirated get away. This dies not mean don't interact with other players, it means that proper RP is to get away with the cargo and your life. A good idea is try to make compromises that make the pirate happy.
I don't get this. "If you are being pirated get away" but "try to make compromises that make the pirate happy"? These things cancel eachother out. You really should not just silently run from any pirate. Not to say you shouldn't run, but an ethos to always run? That's not a very wise one. You will get a lot of traders vaped with that ethic. CDs work wonders you know?
And you never responded to this. Could you, please? Really confusing.
Please link to where it says that the BHG does not sell their ships to anyone other than bounty hunters and I will look into that. I read in one of the in game descriptions that the secondary function of BHG ships was escorting traders and I am looking for it now. The wiki descriptions do not match so I have to go into game to find it as i dont use datastorm. The Unofficial ship list has them listed as OK also.

As I have stated 3 times now, I am going by the faction creation rules posted by the admins. If you think the process needs looked at please do so in another thread. You obviously have a problem with the methodology to this process and I am simply following that. You keep mentioning that you want to see a backstory and I keep telling you that I am following protocol and not to that point yet. This accomplishes nothing constructive.
Bretonia gunboat is off the list as it is BAF.
RM gunboat was not on the list in the first place, I said I would talk to them.

I apologize that the ONE TIME you tried to pirate me I ran without saying anything, but my character did exactly what he would have done. He was in Luxuty liner and was in a hurry. Please do not take offense to this personally as I respect your RP very much but to the Frenchman a single pirate in Cali is just a pissant. He simply landed in the next system (his destination) and sent someone to deal with it. He did it in character and overreacted (in character for him) and sent way more firepower than needed. He paid a 5 mil bounty and sent one of his own guys just to get you out of the trade lanes. Yes I actually paid 5 mil to spite your character. that is a comrimise that made you happy.
But refering to the faction as a whole, let me explain: we are limiting ourselves to smaller ships. these smaller ships have countermeasures and there is no reason to ever ever ever lose a load in one of those to a single pirate. I have about 500 hours on the server and haven't lost anything but a whale and Luxury Liner on the frighter side and I only lost the LL because I screwed up.

I simply call difference of opinion and experience here. CM>CD.
As far as the company goes, thats the whole point, to make money. Lets say you make 8 mil on a run with a Whale otr AT. That means in a BWxport you make about 5.5 mil. Fill up a gunboat as your escort, and you come to a point where it is more profitable to not pay the pirate and fly a smaller ship, but with an escort. This supports teamwork and RP. So you should try to get away every time.
Now, there are times when you cant get away. I got jumped by 2 hackers a couple weeks ago and even tho I was in a BW transport at the time I could not get away as there were 2. I didnt have cargo that was worth more than a few mil, the price of a load of cardi from cape wrath. I made a deal with them and they let me go on consignment. I brought back a train of cardi, they loved it. It took me 20 minutes of time to get them to leave all of us alone for several days.
Of course I dont think the other pirates would honor this deal. The truth of the matter is I tried to make the same deal with the rouges but Del was too busy at the time. But on the other hand of course I mention it when I get pirated becasue lets face it, Im not paying unless I HAVE to. Its small talk to get me out of trouble but it works. Just like when I came after you with 2 ships theres no way youre going to fight unless you HAVE to. Before when it was seperated into 2 factions it was alot harder to supply a pirate with what they wanted on the spot as it was illegal to supply contraband with that character. We also have multiple characters that only play 'strictkly lawful'. Ed Taylor and Neil Rayment are 2 of them. They wont ever try to bribe you with cardi or artifacts so their RP would be different than a smuggler or trader/smuggler.
So the ehtos to always run stands, but as the rule states:
Quote:This dies not mean don't interact with other players
(found a typo)
Again, you say that cancels each other out, I say I have RP'd it out before with my hull intact. Hard, yes. But fun RP.
Havok isnt a house bomber its Ageria.
Warran is classified as border worlds bomber, we frequent the border worlds.
