Well, this tends to be what happens when you make a decision which largely impacts the future of a community inhabited by people who are largely mentally unstable. And, surprise surprise, roleplaying environments tend to be a hotspot for the unwell to congregate.

It's par for the course, and I'm kind of shocked that anyone else is shocked by the community's reaction. It's like nobody has seen the mass drama and server die offs that happen with WoW RP, for example. You have to have a certain kind of mindset to cater to a community like that. I for one do what I do because it keeps me busy, and I'm not in a good situation to let my mind wander in regards to real life.

As far as being treated as a different class of people, well.. what exactly do you think making the rules and having the ability to ban people means? Again, par for the course. Those who wield the stick will always be looked down upon, whether its wielded justly or not. From a standpoint of principles I really don't disagree with many of the bans. I'm simply concerned from a pragmatic point of view that it isn't something Discovery has the raw numbers to handle, but I'll see where it goes and play my part 'til the end.

RIP Karst
RIP Meph
RIP Swifty
RIP Lyth
RIP Snoopy
RIP Impy

It was a cool time with you, even when I had a few problems with swifty and Lyth, I will miss you guys.
This bans are just stupid... and I don't think that Karst got any warnings. But whatever, you killed 4 faction leaders, and you know what that means...
We already have a low amount of people who are active ingame, and you just killed 4 freaking faction leader... in a few months, we will play with 20 player each day and try to have fun.

Whatever, ban a few more and I give you my word, I will leave disco too, because you are not helping the community, you are doing the opposite.

You're right. Silly me to think that receiving death threats and being told I'm scum multiple times a week (I'm not joking either) should be expected. Sorry, but everyone has their limit and what they can tolerate. I've reach my level.

Instead of ranting people could also continue their work.
Its not the bans destroying the game, its the witless hatetrain that always follows a ban of a popular person

This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself. There is a danger in secrets, both in seeking and in knowing. Some things are meant to be hidden from view. Some mysteries defy understanding, and sometimes even the things we think we know are untrue. Some secrets should remain untouched.

There were reasons why everyone got banned. Did I agree with them all, not necessarily, but I saw where the others were coming from. I'm sorry you don't see that, and I'm sorry you felt that it was a shock and unfair.
As the person who told you that, I am extremely disappointed that you're lumping me in with the sort of people who would dox and threaten and viciously berate you and other admins for being on the admin team. I talked to you about that exact issue the other day, as a friend, and then in our conversation a few hours ago I told you in no uncertain terms that I despise and am disgusted by those sorts of actions, having indirectly experienced them years ago in a community much more toxic than this one.

Just as I told you on Skype, I like you as a person a lot. All the admins I've ever had occasion to talk with, in fact, I thought were great, stand-up folks. But when there's a socially chaotic situation like there was on Skype and Teamspeak earlier, in response to a decision that the admin team made, it's hard to not condemn actions which, analyzed in light of all the evidence that's publicly available to someone in my position (that is, not privy to the inner workings of the admin team or their discussion), seem to be entirely unreasonable and unwarranted, and which certainly are made in violation of all previous procedure and precedent.

I don't have any issue with any member of the staff individually, and I fully understand that everyone on the staff sincerely wants the best for Discovery, and only acts as they see suits that goal. I have nothing but disgust and vehement hatred for the sorts of people who would intrude upon anyone's life in meatspace because of what goes on in a community such as Discovery. Nobody but nobody deserves to deal with that kind of horrific bullshit. But as awful as that is, you cannot simply deflect legitimate criticism by saying "I do it for free, I'm here for fun, and people disagreeing with the team's actions equates to personal harassment of myself". When you became an administrator, you accepted certain responsibilities, and responsibility is not always fun. You are entirely, at any time, within your rights to leave for any reason, but this attitude you're displaying in response to the attempts of many folks to (often apologetically) explain the position that they hold regarding today's events is just disrespectful.

I get folks are angry, even I didn't see this one coming. But telling somebody that you are going to kill them and telling them on a constant basis that they are scum is pretty much cyber-bullying.

Congratulations Discovery. You've reached a whole new low in my eyes...*sighs*

I was not nor am deflecting it, contrary to what it looks like (Apologies if it does). There is a HUGE difference between legitimate criticism and harassment. Those who have asked me why via PM or calmly, I answered when I could. I didn't deflect, but I also recognize the value of not opening up a can of worms publically that can be taken out of context, versus a PM or 1:1 where i can speak calmly. So sorry if it seems I'm deflecting, but the ratio of calm, legitimate criticism and questions is vastly overshadowed by the hate, threats, and hostile negativity shown today over pixels.

Neither are you. I usually see you jumping on the hate-bandwagon. Perhaps if the people who were banned followed the general rule of 'Dont be a dick' they maybe they wouldn't be banned. That's all there is to it. It isn't difficult. It really isn't. Again to quote what someone said earlier. Going at the admins with a pitchfork isn't going to win anybody anything and i'd applaud the staff to ignore people who are.
