@Vendetta Your post is constructive and i like it , so thank you for not being one of those who want to sink it
If this community have more constructive people, then it will survive and become better and better..
It will happen don't worry, and this server will never go down because of a bunch of immature/irresponsible children who can do nothing better than a DDOS.
I honestly think you have reading comprehension issues. I specifically meant in Disco, as in if you launch the game. In your example game, Overwatch, you can completely block that person and never interact with them ever again. What's your solution for, here let me make it easy to read:
Inside the actual game Freelancer, when the launch the game through the launcher, log onto the server, and select your character?
In what way do you foresee these hypothetical ooRP issues bleeding over into the iRP environment that is the game server in any manner that would be outright construed as verbal harassment, the nature of which has already been established? It's not very easy to continue a train of abuse into the game itself without being banned.
I never tried to claim you would be able to completely avoid contact with them in every single way, shape or form - and I would be stupid to do so - but this mythical idea that it's impossible to avoid any sort of ooRP discussion with a party you don't want to engage with ooRP is idiotic. I've been doing it for months, if not years, to several people I wouldn't give the time of day to already.
EDIT: Furthermore, I've just been reminded that there is in fact an /ignore command built into the game. Go wild.
Ah yes, you can ignore their text, how cute. Does it ignore, for example, you getting ganked by 6 people just because they don't like you for ooRP reasons?
In any event, I'd rather not argue about this anymore as we are clearly not going to change each other's minds. Ban them, unban them, whatever.
No, it doesn't ignore that. Neither does any other ignore functionality in any other game that I know of. I'm sure you, myself, and many others are still awaiting a legendary, perfect system of separating ourselves entirely from each and every person we don't want to share the same planet as, but unfortunately it looks like we have a while to wait yet. As it stands, I'm sure that if anyone felt they were being ooRPly hunted down and hammered out in game by a stack of other players (and I've been there myself), it wouldn't be too hard to file a violation report along with proper, documented evidence and get it stamped out.
Actually, simply because of how rotten a large percentage of multiplayer gamers are, you have the ability to completely remove them from your gaming experience in most AAA multiplayer titles. For example in Overwatch, if you're a subhuman pile of poodle shit, I can never play a match with or against you ever again. Neat eh? And if you were skilled and kicked my ass but weren't a complete asshole about it, I can prefer you in matchmaking. Awesome, right?
I don't think you and I are far off in our thinking anyway. You don't think the admins should do stuff without transparency, and I absolutely agree with that. I've only been able to piece together what happened through third parties but it all seems to point to people acting like assholes. It would be nice to get clarification though. Where we seem to disagree is to what extent assholery should be tolerated. My limit is quite short, yours might be longer.

Yeah. And people did report it. And then your friends got banned for doing it.
Your ability to miss the point entirely in every reply and stay in denial of the perfectly obvious is certainly astounding.
Acting exceptionally thick and aggressive isn't doing much to help your cause though.

Actually, they've removed the 'avoid this player' feature. Why they did so and if they plan on reintroducing it, though, are two questions I can't answer.

I agree on this, at least. I don't deny that at some, if not all, of the six people banned were asking for some sort of warning or punishment - but an instant, inexplicable permaban straight from the blue is not the solution that should have been applied, nor should it have been done in such an opaque and unhelpful manner. Furthermore, since you're a relatively recent returner to the community (I think?), you may have missed the numerous and glaring other instances wherein the staff have repeatedly proven themselves unamenable to any sort of negotiation, change, or otherwise being held accountable and/or responsible for their actions. I, personally, feel more than a little frustrated at having to play the same broken record again and again.

Actually, it doesn't look like they've been banned for anything specific at all. The only admin who even bothered to put any sort of effort into explaining the rationale behind the ban in their sanctimonious little justifications for the punishment was Jansen, and even then it's just a set of opinions on the matter. I remain very, very, very skeptical that all six of those named people deserve a permanent ban in the slightest - in particular, the most glaring example is @Karst. I'm not sure if you know him at all (you don't), but the idea that someone so helpful, self-sacrificing, and ultimately passionate about the success of this mod and community should be permabanned for his efforts leaves a foul taste in my mouth, for one. The fact that people are willing to overlook this kind of thing in the name of 'life goes on', or any number of other flimsy excuses that basically translate to 'I don't care and neither should you', is just as disgusting.
Hah, you're right. They removed it because people were using it to avoid skilled players. Oh internet, you are full of wonderful cowards.
Anyway you don't have to be a recent returner to find these instances. But I do remember cases where people were given hefty bans without full explanation. That always irked me and I'm sad that hasn't changed. I mean, it can't be hard to redact the source of the complaint and just show the evidence.

They were pretty clear in stating the reasons for the bans was repeated bullying and acting as if they're above the law because of what ever "efforts and contributions" they think they made made.
I don't know about every detail of every one of them getting banned, but I've seen many instances of them portraying their own bullying of other people as a "community service".
In the last PRIME example (pun intended), where one guy flew up to 5 guys who warned him repeatedly that they would shoot him before they actually did, and who then rolled on the floor on the forum crying and screaming pretending to be a victim, here we see Lyth&co (and you) once again announcing the next volley of bullying towards the guys who the hole thing was obviously set up to rile people up against.
We always see the same group of players starting off gank-campaigns against factions and bases under some pretext portraying it a community cleaning service, when its actually just an excuse to stomp down on people who are weaker than you, for not submitting to your "only do stuff if I want you to" mentality.
Well, that kind of "community service" stinks as much as a group of skinheads stomping down on foreigners claiming they're "protecting the nation", and as much as the schoolyard bully stomping on the little geeks because "they don't fit in".
It's not a community service at all, it's all about making yourself boss so you always get your way.
