Personally, I hate missiles. In Liberty I see everyone using missiles. Okay, not everyone, but you get the idea. Fine and dandy if they use one missile. But no, they use two. Okay sure, that's fine too. But they launch them on every single pass which just gets annoying. I can dodge missiles in a joust, but I can't dodge 70 missiles x 2 in an entire battle without getting hit and having all my Sammaels blown off.
Missiles need to be completely rebalanced, because right now if you fight someone who uses missiles and you don't, you're pretty much screwed. And any newbie can fill their pvp fix by duel mounting missiles and make a kill.

Personally, I think missiles should be dumb fire.

The Paralyser is the missile i mainly use on my bomber, and I also equip a Sidewinder on my fighter. They're useful for taking down those annoying Light fighters and such, however they don't home in nearly as much as they should.

No, they'd still be missiles.
Definition of missile: "projectile: a weapon that is forcibly thrown or projected at a targets but is not self-propelled "
They'd just require more skill to hit an opponent than pressing an "I win" button.

The only thing I'd like to say for the missiles is ... NO MISSILES FOR CAPS !!!
I'm pirating in my gunboat and sometimes, I get enemy bombers on me. Nevertheless, I do not need missiles to kill them !
Missiles are completely useless and unfair for caps.

Also .. the fighter missiles are fine this way.

yeah right....don't use them then, problem solved.

IF you're in a gunboat all the time you should be happy if an opponent gunboat has missiles eqquiped as it wont be able to hurt you.

Missiles are just fine as they are. They only drawback is the speed at which they rip away guns. That's the bit that needs to be looked at.

I agree with you here.

The missiles would be well balanced if the splash damage would be completely removed. Make it on par with guns in this regard. The missile splash damage coupled with the CDM being the first one to fry usually leaves you pretty open to more missiles after which you can kiss your weps goodbye.

In 1vs1 it's fine to use missiles, but it gets annoying if the other guy solely bases his "skills" on them and has a dual layout. I agree with Nighthawk that you just can't evade all the missiles in a fight. Not if you fancy taking some shots by yourself too on the enemy. And waiting for him to deplete his ammo can be a very long process indeed. As things stand now people really do not generally need to make their missile shots count. Nor mines for that regard.

So I say 40 ammo for both would be enough. And still is plenty if you don't spam them.

If you are waiting for opponents ammo to run out you will most likely be ganked anyway (depends where you are flying).

The biggest problem I have with missiles is that very few people in the server have the decency to refrain from using the missiles in 1vs2, 1vs3 or 1vsN. And this I mean being on the superior side in numbers.

And being pretty successful with missiles does not take too much skill. Not if you know a little bit EKing and are in even sightly comparable ships what comes to their turning. I still believe that missiles should serve as a side weapon and not take 1/3 or 2/3 of hull.


I'm interested to see the new non-vanillasized ships and what tweaks have been made to weapons in general.

The decision to increase the ammo storage from 50 (vanilla) to 70 was a bad one in my opinion. I'm looking forward to 4.85, too many ways for a Vanilla fighter to get instagibbed at the moment.

P.S. I guess I should mention that this post is biased because I suck at fighting. Pixie dust guns plx

Well so maybe we should make SNAC a side weapon two?.

I dont know to me missile is very important in all fights. And if you are suggested to make missile a side weapon?... hmmm ? Why should pilot exchange side weapon in to primary weapon (Gun?)

Moreover, look, maybe ban bombers with 4x Imp. Depilators and 1 Sunslayer they are using "side" weapon as a main agianst fighter as well?
