Actually solarius are fine on a gunboat, though I haven't found one that can support more then 2 without energy drain yet.

As for the reason BS turrets use so much energy? Your answer is probably right.

1- There should not be rules about how people equip their ships.
If the weapons are there, they are there for a reason.

Now, concerning how they should be equiped for the sake of correctness and coherence, that's another question...

In this point of view, people could mount fighter weapons, cruiser weapons, gunboat weapons, whatever other stuff appart from BS weapons in their Battleships.
That is a weird thing to do and might unbalance things alot.
Why?
Perhaps the problem is exclusively in the BS class weapons. Most of them are not up to Batleship standards.

People will always equip the wrong stuff in battleships because they are not happy with the battleship weapons available out there.

I bet if those weapons were really hot they would not want something else to equip their already pricey vessel.

Even for those who like to be diferent, having something other than BS weps on batleships should be making them less powerful - wich leads to disadvantage in combat and possibly searching for batleship weapons to equip, only, in this class of vessel.

Consider that no one mounts cruiser weapons on fighters, or perhaps bs weps on cruisers. It is as ridiculous in the same way as mounting weird combinations of non-bs weapons on a batleship should be.

2- As for a price increase in either weapons or any kind of ship class, I am against it.

I already had a hard time getting a train. That's 20 mil and only got there with help...

300 mil gets you just enough to pay for a system... leting squadron stuff (support for other players in the faction) and other character funding aside...

3- Sticking to the official thread about 4.81.
Imho, Batleships should only have harder shields. I explain.
Since some weapons are going to disappear (read: novas), Bomber Fighters could be equiped with a special shield blaster weapon.

This way, while keeping the hull as it currently is, we could get as realistic as we can see in the Single player fighters taking down a batleship.
We also keep the fighting time it takes to bring one BS down.

Other things have already been told by Igiss.
BS weapons will possibly have longer range, faster refire rate.
We should also be either having a more powerful generator, tweak all power-hungry weapons or both.

That's what I have to say for now.

I think that is the issue, part of the thing is I have heard a few people quote Igiss that he doesn't want the battleships owning everything in sight. I agree with this, which is why I agree with Behemoth on his special shield blaster idea, which if tweaked properly could be made to only be effective against cap ships.

The way I think a bomber shield buster should work would be to be an unmountable item (For example, liberty Cruiser Forward Gun) way I see this possible is set the weapon class as like class 11, so if it is un-equipped you have to rebuy the ships. Each bomber would have a different look to the weapon based on their faction, and slightly different statistics.

All ideas and I know Igiss is listening.

Combined with a pretty beef shield upgrade and power tweaks to the battleships (Not touching weapons current damage) I think the bomber upgrade idea behemoth presented (Unless that is what Igiss was already doing, which it still would>) would work pretty well.

Apart from a few people who just like being different, most of the problems we've have with fighter, gunboat etc weapons on a BS is because they only did it for one reason: to win at any cost regardless of RP, balance or fairplay.

PPl`s use Tizzonas in Cap ships becaus in discovery is no more Anti Shields Guns!!!Inferno??What u can do with inferno in PVP with fighter??Nothing!What u can do with battle razor when u fight with Hugy?NOTHING! That`s why!!!!!!!!

Ghost, The idea of using the correct weapons for the correct ship is the fairness and
sportsmanship. The idea that you have no choice is ludicrous. Learning to use the weps
available is, I thought, part of the game.

Your english is fine, it's the massive amount of ! and ? thats the problem, along with leaving capslock off.

Tizonas are for use on a fighter or a freighter, a BS is much bigger.

People in a BS don't PvP with a fighter, they get pestered/distracted by fighters while the bomber tries to torpedo the BS.

BS's are here to fight stations and other BS's and cruisers, destroyers and frigates.

That is part of the point, it is hard to hit craft like HUegenots that are either fast & manuverable or completely flat.

That is what combat is about, winning by any means. RP? Role play does not dictate what weapons you use, infact, *because* I am Corsair RP would actually *ENCOURAGE* me to use my factions weaponry if it's better, it would be seriously out of RP not to. ANd if you want to play the RP Card, *EVERYONE* that isn't a Corsair needs to un-equip Tizonas & Corsair Turrets off their ships... see where that leads you? RP is a completely invalid argument.

Balance? As stated in the Marsflyer thread, the side turrets *HAVE* been nerfed, are you sure you aren't still under the impression they are at the same stats they used to be? If I'm not mistaken in 4.80 they were intentionally balanced in attempt to help the BS Issue.

Ok /rant-off. You have a very closed minded perspective.

Winning by any means is not the point. That is being unsporting.

If your use loopholes and shortcuts to win you are basically cheating and it's either because you HAVE to win all the time or because you know that in a fight with similar load-outs (which is not using fighter weapons) you'd lose.

The RP should dicate your weapon load-outs. All your corsair characters should only have corsair or civilian ships with corsair weapons on them.

The RM do this, I do this, most other people on the server do.

If your characters alignment means you can't buy weapons from a certain faction and you can't get them by looting, tough.
