Everyone seems to be forgetting the fact that sidewinder has double the refire rate of cannonball. That means you can launch another missle when you need it, sooner then if using the cannonball.

I have a feeling about this. You are approaching the game from the wrong end. First you should decide what you want to do (you said you are going to be a merc), then you should chekc what ships you can have in RP, and then finally check what weapons you are allowed to mount in RP.
And don't try the age old "I stole/bought/borrowed/found it". That kind of an excuse wont pass. This is just a friendly warning to you before you might end up in trouble. I hope you do not.
The missiles are considered universal so nothing OORP about them. I'm more worried about the Nomad weps you are carrying. Replace them with codes or BH weps to save you the trouble.
I've recently switched from Cannonballs to Sidewinders. The reason is that I can't hit as many as I'd like with CBs those guys who have a clue. But with Sidewinders you can. At least I have better success with them hitting.
