As for the cheap routers ... Somehow i'm not convinced that it would make any difference really. Had a chance to work on few cheap ones as well as more sophisticated ones and ... well cheap ones did make a small difference though they didn't necessarily work as they were configured to. Most of the Cisco stuff worked as you told them to, same thing with Xirrus WiFi arrays though i doubt you want to spend ~1,5k USD for one of those (Yes. they're not meant to be used at home).
So i'd rather check the x-boxes settings more carefully ... or...
Just block him while you're playing and tell him to do his homework or whatever.
my internet went down wheni tried to post....ok i am throwing this out there, but not sure it will work....you have a router already, but if you get a belkin wireless router, you can set that up on your pc, or whatever pc....when you install it, you can set the bandwith to certain connections....so i would suggest hooking your brothers xbox to that, then limiting his bandwith....i did it with roomies who had downloading obssessions..that killed my online play for delta force black hawk down
there is an amazon.com link, which gives an accurate description....however before you go spend 60 dollars on this, there are like 4 didfferent ones...i had the basic one, which does the same thing, got it at compusa for 30 dollars, before they closed...however i hear the compusa website is still up, selling off surplus, so check there first....circuit city is soon to be closed, so go there and check if you want tooo.....now for the application you need it for, a basic belkin wireless router would work...they also have belking g, belkin n, abdn belkin with mimo....if you areent tto savvy with router setups and such, consult with some of the instore techies.....
also a nice feature to teh belkin setup, along with limiting bandwith to users of the network, is requiring a password to log on...heh heh
