Smuggling is by no means a universally unlawful action. Something that is legal in one house may not be illegal in another (read: Nox) for any particular reason. Thus, to categorize carrying cargo that is unlawful in one house but not another as a strictly unlawful activity across the board, and create ID lines explicitly restricting the transportation of such things on a given ID seems to me like something unnecessary, and is more or less covered by current house government function and player interaction.

It should remain outside of the terms of what is and is not "lawful," due to the fact there are cases where houses differ in what is and is not contraband, coupled with the fact that forcing ID lines for this sort of thing would run the risk of reducing roleplay freedom for players.

Imagine nobody playing the generic unlawful anymore, because for pvp we have international wars, for pve we have navies with the greatest warships for mission grinding, piracy sucks monkey balls, and smuggling is taken over by lawful corporations too, because they can field 5kers while unlawfuls can't. Inb4 the Queen's finest delivering Cardamine to Manhattan under Bowex colors...

This already exists. Samura openly ships Artifacts and Xeno Relics, sometimes with the balls to ship straight to Manhattan.

I find it a bit concerning to see staff names in the no section to be honest...

Honestly it's just assumed that you wouldn't or that it would be bad for rp or something.
Not everyone has no shame. Some of us are anxious af about breaking rules and normalities and so won't even try this unless pushed to do so.

Basically I think this thread might have just caused a jump in more introverted players and players in general smuggling on 5k'ers.
Hell ye brotha.

You're a damn nutter.

Contraband is contraband and even corporate ids shouldn't be allowed to carry this as its ruining immersion. Unlawful should be capable to have possibility to trade as well as lawful but should not have 5kers except particular cases and I'm not about OP as hell Outcast ID

You are also massive nutter.

I mean the whole premise of /DM/ was to carry BMLA as Ageira, so I think it's safe to say that it wasn't ever against the rules

I always assumed that contraband transportation by lawful ID's is okay if it has the role play to back it up, to give an example:

If an Ageira character has a story background of making money on the side by transporting tech to the Outcasts and coming back to Liberty with cardamine

Or if a Bowex transport was attacked by a pirate transport that happened to be carrying slaves, and the Bowex transport won the fight and dumped it's cargo to rescue the slaves and get them aboard

Unless I'm mistaken the only staff who voted no on this was Champ, who created this thread (and hence I'm surprised to see voting no)?

?‍♂️ To my knowledge, this wasn't ever the case previously. That I didn't know is I think, reflective of the way that the rules are written. And yes, I now do know, as is painstakingly obvious from the context, so obvious I can't even describe it, but it is more representative for the purpose of this vote to indicate that I didn't know.

I'm also vindicated that other people voted no, no?

I thought no because if contraband is illegal, and the item in your cargo is contraband, you are doing an illegal act called smuggling.

My thoughts exactly. There is RP involved which, I would hope, the lawful trader would alert local lawfuls prior to proceeding.

It ain't about what you are capable of, it's about what you're willing to do.
