*sighs* And the fact that they use full codes dosent piss you off?So many mercs walk around going u and lol, and then codie blast me just cause.I may be flamey here, but though mercs SHOULD use anything, it should make sense.

No longer a slave to the man!

Mercs should use the "Civilian ships". That means no house military or police stuff.

If you choose an unlawfull shipline like the Thor or the Werewolf, accept that the lawfull side will either arrest you for interrogation or kick you out of their space.
They cant say if you are hostile or not. A lot of Lawfulls get killed by mercs, who work for the unlawfulls. Flying a Thor infront of New Berlin will get you into a cell.

Just use your common sense and the RP comes along with it.

At least I treat Generic IDs not as neutral. Scanning the ship, looking at the IFF and all that stuff indicates its affiliation.

Mercenaries should not be mixing affiliations and ships... Take a look here:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p35...0upJbuLWZO7oTLg

There are white boxes. And mixing equipment with hostile factions is a no-no. So please report Sabres with Tizonas, Thors with Hornvipers. Hell, report Rheinland Fafnirs. If you think someone is abusing their PvP abilities on the Merc ID, report them.

If you want to meet real mercs, go find the MM or Reavers. (self-promotion, hah hah)

Edit; Oh, right... Supposed to say "Report as a last resort." To be honest, talking to them // OOC politely, without rule lawyering, threatening... Just a little, "Hey, Merc IDs probably don't allow that." Please, please do that. So many sanctions could be avoided that way.

I guess that was me.

Let me look something up for you.....

Quote:Client Identification: 101st - Ghosts of Razgriz
........
Fees - Ship supply line. Ace status (five confirmed kills against the Corsairs) grants access to 'one' Sabre VHF. Note: Contract include ships only. OUTCAST EQUIPMENT IS OFF LIMITS!

Copied out of one of our contracts. Everybody can look into them by the way.
Anyways, we are friends with the Bounty Hunters and use their equipment.
Its all available in our backgroudnstory.

What should we use on our Sabres then? The Bretonian Police guns? That would be strange.

yea - thats all fine, but i can also scrape a deal putting tizonas on a sabre then ... still fine? - that is where RP clashes heavily with the rules... in RP, i can do everything and i can make EVERYTHING logical - really, so logical that there is no DOUBT that it needs to be done - this way and no other way.

flying a titan with inferno and bretonian splitters is a cakewalk to put into a story and justify.

i am sure you see the dilemma. - the RP is sound and good... but "mixing enemy ships / equipment" is still a no-go. what about a BHG bomber that defects from the BHG with his bomber - gets matey with the outcasts - gets an inferno - then over a period of time... he distances himself from them again- but puts into the story that he learned to maintain this weapon....

then in a complicated and RPed way, he finally becomes friends with the corsairs .... and is allowed coladas.

you end up with brilliant RP, a BHG bomber + inferno, supernova, 4 coladas and maybe a tizona.... yay

The Sabre is a Borderworlds ship, Jinx. Not necessarily Outcast. Otherwise there wouldn't be four factions using, not including all the Freelancer NPCs.

So, with good justification, a Sabre with Buckshots is possible. With good justification, a Sabre with Tizonas is not, without a special RP.

In any case, this wasn't RP just written by one person that is a contract with another faction. MM already has access to Bounty Hunter equipment, they were just given a Sabre for good work.

There is a difference between a 10 page RP saying "Oh, and then I got a Tizona" and an RP with another faction including interaction between members of both factions.

If I'm wrong here, I will go sell my Merc Sabre.

can you elaborate a bit more?

sabre being BW - but rather affiliated to outcasts with BHG buckshots is ok

but sabre with tizonas not? - BHG / corsairs are enemies the same to those that usually use the sabre.

and i m not speaking about cheap RP justification, but about a lot of work - but if a sabre with buckshots works.... then a sabre with tizonas works, too - i daresay, i see no difference between BHG and corsairs for the matter of a sabre.

its not meant to prove you wrong here - but don t you think its a bit funny? a bit easy to use BHG weapons? - they are as factionized as tizonas. - the BHG wouldn t let anyone, not even other lawfuls to use them. i don t think it says "free for all" on BHG equipment ... only people like them to be that way ( except BHGs usually ) - so you got mercs flying BHG ships... shooting BHGs. - you have lawfuls that deny the BHG their weapons - but they use buckshots. - considering that the BHG has an exclusive ships and weaponproducer, they sure are giving them out like candy.

Perhaps you're right...

In any case, I should not say is it not possible to get a Tizona on a Sabre. I did not mean to. As a matter of fact, it's been done. I guess I am simply saying that I feel the MM is justified in the use of Buckshots (which I would assume were used before the change to the Sabre).

And yes, I do think that Buckshots are rather more free for all than Tizona. The Tizona is a closely guarded weapon, compared to the buckshot. In any case, I better not see Mercs in BHG ships engaging Bounty Hunters. That is not right. Same as I would expect this MM to avoid shooting Outcasts as well as Bounty Hunters.

Perhaps people disagree with me, and that's why more than one Admin looks at each sanction report. In any case, I cannot continue this discussion today. I must sleep.

Just an outsider's opinion, but I always thought the buckshot was okay for mercs, and the sabre was okay for mercs. Meshing the two is going to raise eyebrows, but I think it's just about okay.
