If you're feeling daring sometime you can install the KDE packages and convert your Ubuntu installation into a copy of Kubuntu.

Debian's nice... I prefer it for servers over desktop systems. Fedora's alright, but the package manager bugs me. And slack...well it's slack. Heh.

No joke there are many many distributions of Linux. Here's a pretty good index of them: Distrowatch.com

Whatever you do, don't let this happen to you...

Hurray for Linux and such!

I'm using Arch Linux on my laptop right now (actually dual boot with Windows 2k, for the occasional Civ 3 playing, and less often some Freelancer :)), and it's my favorite of all of the distros I've tried. That's the thing with Linux, not every distro is for every person. I originally tried Mandrake, which didn't cooperate with my computer at the time and thus I was led to try Red Hat. That was so-so, after which I used SUSE for, actually, quite a long time. There was some Debian in there after that, too, until I found what works best for me.

So if at first you don't succeed, you can always look into other options. :D

I dual boot, just devide your drive into to partitions, I think it is a option in the install menu.

Come on! Be free!

Umm.... so I'm googling this problem now.

I think terminal got killed in the middle of something important, cause I accidentally hit a wrong button to shut down my computer at the wrong time...

Now I boot and package manager is broken.

Firefox will not start, and I can't get anything much to work. I can't install anything...

Here's the error:

E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with mergelist /varb/dpkg/status
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened

I'm googling... but if any of you know what to do... help!

Uh oh! Might help.

Gotta run, I'd help more.

Seriously, I reinstalled so many times when I first started. Each time you become more powerful!

If you decide for Ubuntu, you may want to check out these useful websites:
- Official Ubuntu Documentation (great help site)
- Ubuntu Guide (beginner's tips)
- Kubuntu (Ubuntu with KDE desktop)
