A laugh came out of Lea. ''Well, you are probably better than me.''
''Now that we have the time to talk in peace, what do you plan to do? I certainly invited you here to stay as long as you want but... you know, I just need to make sure that we both have enough food.''
I do not know, Lea. I do not know about anything anymore. I hired a man to deal with the problem, but if he fails, all hope is lost. I do not know what else to do, really.
He desperately avoided eye contact.
I think it will take a few days. Uhm, I can probably use a PDA to translate things, so I can get food myself, probably. Right now, however, I would... just like to rest. I have not gotten much sleep lately. Barely an hour a day. My fear keeps me awake. So, uhm, unless you have anything else to talk about, I would just, uhm, go to the bedroom and pass out.
Sighing, he opened his eyes again. Exhausting kicked in the moment he had sat down. The last thing he wanted, however, was to pass out right there. If anything, he wanted to show enough decency to go to the guest room.
Without much hesitation, he moved up from the couch and went to the guest room. The boy closed the door behind him quietly, and without taking off any of his clothes, not even the jacket, he walked up to the bed and dropped onto it, burrowing his face in the pillow. It took him a few seconds to turn his head to the side. All this time his PDA kept vibrating. One new message after another.
Lamely, he produced the PDA out of the pocket of his leather pants and unfolded it. A message from Rebecca. Various messages on NNStaGram. A new message from Yoshiko. A new message from Tamara. Sighing, he opened them, one after another, just to read them.
While in the kitchen, Lea was there only to think of what to do. But thinking in advance won't help either. the best she could do is keeping her daily routine. She nodded to herself and went for her bedroom. She closed the door and dropped herself on it. She closed her eyes and fell asleep.
The next day arrived...
It was around six of morning, on the planet. Lea woke up a bit tired a first, forced herself to stand up and change herself into a more sportive clothes. Black leggings, black t-shirt and she tied up her hair for a pony tail. She went to the kitchen, grabbed a bottle and filled it with water. Today, it was still cold but sweat, a zero degree celsius and it was sunny. She decided to unlock the door and go out. She walked to the backyard and start doing her routine she used to do. For at least twenty minutes, she was doing goings and comings. After, it was mostly push-ups and sit-ups for another twenty minutes.
It was her way to destress a bit. Inviting a partial unknown was something she did not expect to do. In fact, she did it on a quick decision to help Levan.
It would take a while for Levan to wake up, or even consider doing anything other than staying in bed. Every now and then he opened the last message he got from his best friend.
He knew Lea was out there, doing her things. But he did not care. Nothing was important anymore. He would either hide here for a while, or Rebecca would come for him. He did not feel sadness anymore. Purely apathetic. This was how his life was now. Hiding, afraid, without any goal.
And all just because of Rebecca. He survived an entire planet of slavery and abuse, but that woman, that would be the one to kill him. He did not have the biggest hopes for Caliban to solve it.
He did not even feel hungry or thirsty anymore. He just remained in bed, not knowing what else to do.
She was sweating and she was feeling a satisfied mood. She ended up her routine there and entered in the house. She locked the door. The woman looked around if Levan was there but no. He was probably in the chamber. She went for the bathroom at the other floor. She obviously locked the door, started the shower.
Aside the shower sound, it was calm inside of the house. The shower stopped after ten minutes, covered of a towel, the Rheinlander walked fastly to her room and to get dressed. Once she was wearing the casual clothes, she returned went for the kitchen and prepared her breakfast. She remembered that Levan had some difficulty to eat something else than Synth Paste. She sighed. The breakfast she was making for herself was eggs with bacon and toasts. As for the drink, it was an orange juice. She walked to the dining room and took place to eat.
On the her PDA, she started the radio. It was mostly her native language coming out.
Remaining unmotivated in bed, Levan heard the music in the distance. There was a faint scent of delicious food, too. His stomach complained. He did have the pack of Synth Paste that Lea gave him before he moved up. She probably wanted him to come down, he figured, but he did not feel like it.
The PDA still had new messages waiting for him. Especially his NNStaGram account was booming with likes since the OSC article. It was way too much attention, and made him incredibly uncomfortable. It certainly did not help keeping undesirable thoughts out of his head, or the blood in it.
Caliban sent a message. He read it, got slightly annoyed, responded and put the PDA away again. Figuring he should at least say hello to Lea, he scooted off the bed and adjusted his clothes, wanting to look a bit more presentable. Grabbing the little pack of Synth Paste, he left the room and head down to where he suspected Lea to be, in the kitchen.
The scent of breakfast grew stronger. The boy tried not to make too much noise as he moved down the stairs. Then he slipped off the final stair and wasted all the effort by releasing an audible Whoa~, stumbling but catching himself.
So much for subtlety. Hoping Lea did not see this stunt, he slowly made his way to the kitchen.
Lea was keeping eating. Then, she heard a voice coming from the stairs, it was Levan's voice. She did not know how to react, did she need to say hello? She waited, her plate was almost finished. Then, footsteps were heard coming to her direction. She started drinking her orange juice and kept eating after to eventually finish her plate.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, there was some bacon on a plate. Lea had probably take too much for her breakfast. The dirty dishes were in the sink. The radio's sound was higher as he was closer. The sound was coming from the dining room, where Lea was.
Lea was in her bubble, she was thinking. She wondered what to do.
Approaching the plate of bacon carefully, the boy inspected it. Matter of factly, he had never gotten to see bacon before, at least not knowingly. Maybe as child? It was unfamiliar to him. Curious, he picked up one piece of bacon and took a bite. After some chewing, he quickly realized that he would probably throw up from it, so he put walked over to the trash can and spat it out. At least he tried.
Putting the rest of the bacon back on the plate, he kept looking around. How weird, being all alone in such a house, just with Lea. Beggars could not be choosers, so it had to work out somehow.
After some snooping around, he entered the dining room, knowing Lea was in there.
Uhm, hello!
A little helpless, he leaned against the door frame, inspecting Lea subtly from there. A lot more casual than he knew her.
