Well I think you could fly a roc if you wanted - but it would be best if you got a generic ID for it. The Praetorian is a really slow ship - I used it in 4.84 for my order file. The Sekhmet is now an immensley powerful bomber (in my opinion, although not many use it) and is a powerful alternative to the praetorian. Unfortunatley order tech is off-limits to corsairs now.
Fly the Junker Bomber sometime. A nice 40k plant and a hitbox that acts as a gravitational pull for missile and SNAC spam. More regens is great until all your guns and your thruster have been wiped.
We still fly it the most out of the current selection of bombers available to the faction. It's got some neat turn acceleration to it for a bomber.
I'm going to agree with Laowai from way back in this topic.
If you are RP'ing a certain faction (of whatever sort) then you ought to be using their ships in the first instance. Using an alternative ship simply because it is "better" will not easily fit in with the RP aspect of the server.
Having said that it does not appear to go against the "rules" of the server to use alternate ships in some instances (the Roc in this one) but I believe it goes against the "spirit" of what we are trying to create here.
In theory you might be able to do both, but you would need a stunningly good RP story to explain why a Corsair would not use a ship that Corsairs have built and designed, and would have no problems (relatively) in obtaining spare parts for and servicing. I don't think this would be at all easy
So.... under normal circumstances (an average RP reason)
It comes down to how keen you are to RP and how keen you are to PvP. I don't see how you can easily do both in this particular instance, since one path follows the rules and the other the RP.
The Praetorian is a good bomber. Its certainly in the better half of the bombers in the mod. Sure, there are better bombers for taking out fighters, but the Praetorian is pretty hard to beat in an anti-cap engagement.
Personally, I don't like the wingtip placement of the torp slots but thats just the way I fly my ship.
That said, I don't mind you flying the Roc if you have a good reason to. Doing so because you can, however, is setting an example that we really don't need.
It's interesting how things are. It seems I've heard a lot of comments about how good the Praetorian is. All in all, though, it's balanced against everything, yes?
Of course, if we're talking about increasing stats, can the BHG Bomber get the powerplant of a Thor at least? That thing seems to be able to fire things like mad.

Looks like you've got that part covered.
The only justification you offered is to have a PvP edge over others, coupled with a generalised complaint about a particular faction.
With that attitude, you can fly whatever you want. Just accept that the Corsair bomber is pretty good as it is and not perhaps the best. You can't have everything, where would you put it?

What is wrong with Bounty Hunters using CDs on that note? I think if any faction SHOULD fit them, it's the ones that need to kill the nastiest scum in the galaxy to make their annual membership fee. Or should everyone just fit Mini Razors/SNACs and torpedoes to allow everyone to drift and leave the engagement at will? It's a tactical choice and always has been. You just gotta adapt.
On that note, there is a tactic for using less agile ships in combat against more nimble foes that doesn't involve engine kill. You just gotta figure it out. Try flying a Collector against Eagles and Black Dragons sometime, great practice for it.
Try flying a Barghest, then you'll appreciate how fast every other bomber is.
You're probably the first person to complain about the Praetorian being slow, at least that I've seen. Instead of blaming your equipment, try bettering your own piloting skills.
