@Dab: HF is doing pretty well owning Vespucci and now have a JH to Humboldt will also make Vespucci more important seeing as we have a back door to Rheinland. Having guard systems doesn't knock you off of the map at all.

but TBF guys, in order to buy a system you need to have a NPC faction tag or there is no system available to you unless you make one and submit it to Igiss...

What about the dead-end system of Omicron-74? Or the Omicron-85 which is connected only to Omicron Alpha and another empty system connected only to 85 and Alpha as well.. There are quite a few others.. Vespucci and Poole are some of the few exceptions to the out-of-the-way system. One reason why I've been trying to get Igiss to allow me to add in jump holes to systems I edit.

Maybe he'll do it himself though.. Gotta ask him that.

...since I'm on the "fishin'" motif, we may have a whole kettle of em here.

A jumphole added to a system (and its ultimate destination) seems to be the type of change that could affect inter-faction dynamics and tactics significantly.

Not saying it shouldn't be an option for newly designed systems.

I just hope that Igiss 'n Co. will consider the ramifications of jump-hole additions, and seek consensus from the folk/factions who would be affected by such a major addition.

There I go with the politics again. Dis, pass me those worms!

Heh, I was preparing to ask such a thing from Igiss myself, I just wanted to submit the O-85 complete and then, as I will do anyway, list the 'features' of the system, together with a little bit of 'history' for each 'feature' in there. I was wandering though as I saw Dab's systems, can we put so many 'automated defenses' it might be a little overpowered?...

(*imagines putting a few Outcast Dreadnoughts loaded with player turrets to guard the jumps*)

If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God? - from 'Nightfall' by I. Asimov
The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor

Giving Igiss the benefit of the doubt here. Real life can play havoc with one's intentions.

But, I do believe we are overdue for that "Tutorial", which would outline what "is" and "is not' acceptable for new Home Systems.

We seem to have enough factions who have the cash and the desire to proceed, but I think we're all hesitant to submit our designs without a bit more guidance on the subject?

Por favor?

Well, since the topic has shifted a bit...

I believe Igiss' last word on the topic of system design went something like this...
Systems for factions

So basically we give him a rough idea and he'll take care of the nitty gritty.
