Soooo, anyone got any milk around here ?

EDIT: On a more serious note. Why does everyone always complain about fights being too long and what not, it certainly feels fine to me.

But the idea whereas it no doubt has it's flaws aswell sounds like it's atleast worth thinking about. Maybe run a little testing with it ?

It would be quite a crappy thing for those lower then usual armoured VHF's that would have to restore without using the full capacity not to get instakilled ?

Could it be implimented that instead filling the hp up one per time you jam the g or the f key would be used to regen?

Just a few thoughts.

(forgive me if I said thigns that were said before, didn't backread on this one)

On the new type of bots idea.. It's not a good one. Say you have 1 unit of hull damage. Just one. Now while fighters have 50+ bots, wasting a single bot isn't that big a deal. How so? I said that numbers would only be tentative, since I didn't take the time to compare armor points/shield points and bot/bat regen capacity.

As was suggested by someone back on page 2, that actually might be a better way to do it; just make them all do, I dunno, a million or so and just cap all of the ships at 1-3 by class.

Again, this was the product of boredom at work.

This would gimp fights so badly in the Fighter/Bomber world. Quite a lot of the light VHFs and especially HFs are vulnerable to getting murdered with just a single MR shot when only a few hull bars down, say 2-3 for agreement sake. Now usually to prevent myself from exploding due to a MR or even stuff like nuke mines, I never go down below a few hull bars, or at least try to avoid it, doing so means I wont explode when I get it by a MR or a nukey. With this I either have a choice in totally wasting one of my few and far apart nanobots, or taking such a huge risk with the fact Im going to get instagibbed anytime soon.
This will cause fights to either dramatically plummet in length when combating with these components, or the alternative to that is to end up going really evasive whenever hull damage is threatened. This also reduces an element of skill in fights, as people that may be careless and go down to half hull are liable to getting instagibbed easily, however with this system it would become a fact that any ship that gets down to 3/4 hull is ready to pop.

No thanks. Not only is trading a chore, I also would like to see *less* traders and more interesting RP characters. Even if you RP your trader, you won't stay in one system and interact with other people for a long time - you'll mainly interact with the people you're flying with (if at all). Traders rarely contribute to RP, other characters however tend to do.

Don't change a working system.

Nathrael, traders are the entire basis of the server RP. Without traders you wouldn't have pirates, without pirates you don't have bounty hunters, policemen, and House navies.

Gonna have to agree with Dab & Enko on this one...

While you may be correct ( I said maybe, don't get your hopes up white & nerdy boy:P) that the pvp dog fights would be shorter, It would also make them unbalanced.
PVP on this server does actually have it's place in RP. Shortening the dog fights may affect this at times. For instance, your all alone in your Sabre & out of no where, your jumped by 3 bounty hunters.
Now, with your idea.. your basically screwed, 3 Fighters pew pew pewing you & limited regen settings, yeah, you ain't gonna make it. With current settings, you may use a couple bots & batteries while you dodge & zig zag around until help arrives to save your bacon.

& I kinda like Virus's Idea the more I think of it...

This is at least what I am getting from your idea. If I am wrong, Im sorry, lack of sleep ya know.

No way. I love how long dog fights last. Makes one of the other people start getting impatient and making mistakes, and that's where I always manage to take em down. Because I'm very very patient.

Wrong.

You didn't have to trade as much in .84 as you have to now, yet pirates did fine. Also, if you ever had a pirate char, you might have noticed that it isn't the traders you get the most RP with - it's the lawdogs. Yes, the requirement to trade is a necessary evil to keep certain aspects of server RP alive, but there is only so much forcing people to trade that actually contributes to server RP.

Also, House militaries primarily exist to fight each other, not to fight pirates.

And ask yourself - when was the last time you had truly epic RP with a trader? When was the last time you had truly epic RP with somebody else?

EDIT: Oops... Should of read more of the thread before posting. DeathsOverture beat me to the same question, but it still has not been answered...

Old question:

But how will newer players survive? If they get shot down for whatever reason, how do you expect them to get healing equipment?

This idea seems a little too far orientated towards more experienced players. If anything the NPCs should be toned down when it comes to nanos and batts.
