I don't believe making Battleships special request will solve anything. The problem is not the ship, it is the player behind them. You can be an ass in anything from a Light Fighter to a Battleship.

Battleships are easier and more fun to kill, and honestly Light Fighters scare me more than Battleships.

I've seen a huge zoner ship (juggernaut I think) role playing like he was yoda from star wars. That being said, I think they should be restricted to official factions. I have a feeling often times the people in Capital Ships are the same people that just power trade.

Frankly speaking, I would rather have all 199 other slots filled up with people like him, than having one slot for you.

I was just mentioning something that I thought was a good example of an oorp Cap Ship; then again I guess he was rping great and I just failed to make the connection between zoners and jedi, but I know what I didn't do, I didn't make personal attacks.

Personal attacks? That is what this whole thing is based upon. "OMG, one day when I was on my OC dread four Osiri' turned up and raped me, hence, nerf and restrictions", "me and my friends with five bombers just did not have the skill to take down the cruiser, hence, restrictions", "that capship uses robots instead of crew, this goes against all sense and sensibility as well as my limited definition of rp, hence restrictions". The whole thing is based on people supposedly having a bad experience with a few independent capital ships and then trying to take a sledgehammer to those who fly without a tag.

I know for a fact that I can find worse capital ship role-players in factions than myself. I also am sure that I can find people who are better than me. Being in a faction does not automatically make you awesome.

In the end, this is meant to be a game that is fun and fair for all. Just because one BS chased down your LF, which by the way is ridiculous considering the BS does not have a thruster and it's weapons are so slow, does not mean you have to ruin my fun because your fun was ruined.

Edit: Just to clarify my earlier statement. I would rather have a compassionate, understanding role-player, who plays an alternatively unusual role, and who is not judgemental, to RP with on the server, than one who thinks he is God's gift to the role-playing world and will ruin any RP he does not agree with or condone.

Basically every time i go to gamma i see at least one bs that is at least oorp with his chat if nothing else.

well you get my point. Look, i dont want those capships to go away, I just want them to be useful. If people want to look all mighty and powerful in front of Crete, but damnit, group up with each other and talk LOL in group chat. That's something I won't mind at all.

Would somebody please railroad the topic back to where it came from thus reading the initial posting again? I get the feeling we have now two discussions threads on the original topic and this just keeps becoming increasingly difficult to seperate. Or that is just me.

The reason I created this poll is to help me understand why so many players here are against independent players who fly Battle ships.

I ask you to please answer the questions as honestly as you can, this data can help me get a better understanding of the communities view on this . . .

Based on this, the last question on my poll is, if this would be the decision, would you (owner of a battleship) be willing to give up your ship and start over in the next Mod to prove your RP? . . Granted, (in this scenario, All official factions would be allowed one battleship to own) . . .

I am really trying to view this long debated problem from a neutral view. (which is hard to do) . . .
I hope by gathering this data from the community I can come to an honest and fair conclusion . . .

If you feel that I am wasting your time by asking these questions, then I apologize . .
If you do not and contribute, I thank you for you time and help .

I hereby agree with the proposal of making a request to keep the battleship, and if not granted after a certain amount of time, it is removed. Perhaps refund the players the worth of the battleship and the shipped license to it, as a compensation? I dunno.

The reason why I did not vote is because I have not enough experience ingame and have not seen enough to be completely unbiased from any forum statements. If anything, I'd like to have my own point of view on things. I hope that decision is respected.

So... you consider someone roleplaying a character to be an oorp capital ship? Do you even know what oorp stands for?

Yoda is well known to be one of the best roleplayers on this server... He's been playing that character for over 4300 hours.

I never got into watching Battlestar Galactica, so I completely missed the connection and assumed that the Colonials in game where created and added by disco team. But, that not the point your making, your saying I was attacking his rp because it is similar to a preexisting fiction. I guess in a way I may have done that, and that was wrong of me. I of all people should have known better, especially since the next character I was planning was going to be Bruno J. Global, and I was going to use a carrier and I was going to name it called SDF-1. So I owe yoda an apology. :(

So your the Yoda? that explains why you took it so personal. Well let me start by saying I'm sorry, "I'm sorry". My intention was not to target you and your role play skills. I did not post that because I was angry at you, in fact I have only seen this Yoda ship once or twice in passing. It seemed like a valid example at the time, but in hindsight it apparently wasn't. Also, I want you to know that I don't find my role play skills to be superior to anyone; I type slow and I don't splle well, some of the rp situations I create are half baked and lead to situations that make no sense, and sometimes I talk with these // to much.


That being said the motive for me wanting cap ships to be exclusively faction base is not fueled be personal vendetta against them or the people that fly them, and I am not upset the they "raped me". The reason I believe they should be exclusive to factions is because this will:
A) lower the amount of cap ships
B) This will boost faction participation
C) this will lesson the likely hood of oorp cap ships

I personally think Capital Ships should be rarer and their pilots should be held to a higher standard (but I also think the should be beefed up too). Battle Ships are not a dime a dozen, the are gargantuan machines of war whos momentum directly affects the history. When a Battleship goes down in battle it isn't some minor set back, it could quite possibly have shifted the tides of war a battle that will be known for ages to come. This is what I want to happen here.
