Yes, very well, I can understand that only Kress helped them, and that was also probably because he had interest in them.

But the BD did help them for the sake of containing the Nomad threat.
At the very least I'd like to see the Order cooperate a bit more with the Blood Dragons. Could actually make for a few good events with the Aoi Iseijin, if they're willing to do it.

[edit]But it's just so disappointing to realize that all the buildup of Order RP post-vanilla was based on low-level mindsets, by which I don't mean people with a lack of intelligence, but with wrong motivations. I can't shake the feeling that the once upon a time leaders of the Order didn't take into account what they were RPing, and just wanted "more".
By more, I mean that everyone wants a bloody nation of their own.[/edit]

And yeah, I understand that it's difficult to maintain secret organization RP with caps invading other systems on a daily basis.
I'd support a restriction of the Order in that aspect, personally.
I know it won't happen most probably though, because of all the people who'd be synthetically outraged because of their theorizations and invisible principals.
Oh well.

Reguarding the Blood Dragons - there is no chance of a full-alliance or even cooporation into each other's space. Ever. The only understanding we have is somewhat of a blockade of the Tohoku system, to attempt to contain the nomad threat. The Order have betrayed the Blood Dragons far too much, a fact, in RP, the Blood Dragons are very paranoid about. Betrayal is just about the ultimate act, and seeing as the order decieved the Blood Dragons (the order-corsair alliance began before the sp campaign, and now they have allied themselves with the hogosha) and has betrayed them by "loosening" their activity in Kusari (I mean, have a look at some RPed characters, characters like Ze'ev.) No alliance unless Igiss/everyone agrees that the corsair alliance should never have happened, then wipe that alliance from ever existing in RP.

Sirius descends deeper into distrust, warmongering, everyone's fighting everyone, loud voices of discontent, greedy hands...

...are Nomads to blame for what mankind is?

...whom Order is actually trying to protect?

Where is good and where is evil?

Order caps were a big mistake. Actually though, so was the Order-Corsair alliance and the Order war with BHG. The faction is at the moment illogical and ruined. I find the original concept of the Order vastly intriguing, but the Discovery version of it (both mod lore and most of the player RP) just seems shallow and cliche ridden.

If I had an opportunity to rework the faction, I would change it into the secret society it was supposed to be: Listening posts placed in key areas of Sirius. A vast net of agents and under the table alliances with powerful groups, but all the while a disregard for petty human affairs. And a theme of infiltration rather than brute force, with secret influence all over Sirius. A regard for the limited resources of the Order, rather than an idea that resources are instead unlimited.

Oh well, maybe we will get to that in time. At the very least diplomacy is getting sorted a bit.

The Order, to my understanding, should have its contacts throught Sirius, in every faction. Even in the LSF. The BHG would be the exception.

The Order definitely should not be allied with the Corsairs. A neutral stance would make a lot more sense.

And while the OC are not allied, or even on friendly terms with the Nomads, the fact that the Nomads tolerate them is enough to evoke a high level of suspicion in the Order. However, suspicion does not equate instant hostility, just the mindset that the OC should be carefully observed.

As for the Order's goals - protecting humanity from an alien race that would apparently like to forcibly compel humanity to follow a path in synch with the Nomad worldview of harmony and oneness. Nomads seem to interpret individuality as the root of humanity's ills. Therefore, humanity must be destroyed or "persuaded" by the merits of the Nomad worldview.

If the Nomads were to extend an olive branch to humanity, it would likely be in the form of some level of enslavement (from the human point of view), the exchange of free will and individuality for oneness - "peace" on their terms.

Where is good? Where is evil? Both are found in abundance in Sirius, in both humanity and Nomads. The conundrum is, who is the defining authority of good and evil? It seems that for most rpers, concepts of good and evil are relative to their own goals and factional worldviews.

And where did you get that crazy stuff? Quote, please. Specifically from the Nomad Lore.:lol:That's just a speculation, a nice one though I admit, but I wouldn't be so sure about that.

May be, just may be, you'll get your share of classic Order love, provided that I finish my Nomad storyline and it gets a green light upstairs. Wouldn't count on that, though, but hey, what do you know, one day certain things are forbidden here, seemingly impossible to archive, the other day they are right there. Besides, there is always plan B.

By the way, the conflict with BHG does make sense: two groups are fighting for the same thing but each for diametrically opposite reasons. Core is pursuing own selfish reasons. Order is trying to prevent others, like BHG, to get their greedy and power hungry hands on alien technology, presumably for the sake of mankind.

Blodo, by the time you get to changing the Order I'd say it'll be too late. Things... will change drastically by then already.

The capship development I would chalk it up to game evolution. That said, it would make more sense to limit the Order to gunboats and below. Yes, they have the Osiris from the OC, but that was a unique ship.

While I'm on the subject of capships, wouldn't it make more sense (I realize "sense" is subjective, but...) that only house militaries (and Nomads) would have destroyers on up?

Just like it was in vanilla. Would that make more sense? Well, yes. Would that be possible to change to in Discovery? I think the answer is all too obvious, sadly.

Historically Discovery began as a "ship pack" mod, over the years it ventured into role-playing realm, but it has always retained that "ship pack" mentality so ferociously supported by this community, that ubiquitous ill sense of delusional equality perverted. Can't get rid of it that easy, would have to push things very hard despite the exceptionally loud background noise.

I got that crazy stuff by interacting with some of your happy, shiney minions in Iota. An interesting mindmeld that was. Albeit brief.

Like most players, I don't read much forum factional lore. That what I've read I've found to be uninteresting and cliche. I don't have unlimited spare time, so I read what I have to in order to get a basic understanding of current events and I move on.

Yeah, that and I would rather concentrate on rping in game. Nice, dynamic, spontaneous interaction.
