Oh, I believe it, it's just the 20% women and children that didn't make sense.

60% mobilization is certainly possible if you use women and children in combat.

Maybe the children are just the commanders and generals and don't do any front line fighting.

Hi, Citizen Katz for those that don't know... Vote for me, Socialist-Goubernator of Ontario!

As for the Marxist/Stalinist or Mao-ist question..

it is none of the above, at least as I see it and have been role-playing it out.

Permanent Revolution is probably the closest ideal to what the Coalition was about, and the reason it was able to take down Sol. We know that Stalinism was flawed, and Mao-ism is (Lives in China so can't say anything about that)...

The Coalition had to be something more durable otherwise it would never have gained power. (That and I'm playing a Trotskyist so I am totally biased).

As for civilians, we're all civilians and all soldiers in the coalition, that is life inside it, the life of a one system state that has to depend upon itself. Take a look at certain other states that exist today in 'hostile' territories.

You don't see the civilian side, but it is there, I've had the pleasure to RP it and see it RP-ed. Razin and I had a great conversation about civilian life in the Coalition one night.

I would like to see the trade happen inside the system, and to our Allies. There is no point in trading with our enemies, why would we want to? Admit it, you guys just want our Vodka!

Look, why would their be civilian traders jetting too and fro? Food is on Volograd and JiangXi, they would travel out to our research station and depots maybe once a month to resupply. Then of course there are shuttles too and from ZG moon base... but I mean, why do we need to see that?

I think the system is set up nicely the way that it is, and I don't really want people sailing through waving and taking flash photography. And it would be a pain to set up escorts for every trader coming through, we're the Coalition, you ain't going nowhere we don't want you to go.

I'm with the others there, no indie Coalition, ever. No way, no how!

As for the RP about Civilian life in the Coalition, there's lots of it about just go find it.

I can see socialism, Maoism and communism living up again. If this current crysis was even worse, alot of countries would actually drown in capitalism and revert to something else.

But I'm not here to discuss current politics.
The sirius lore shows that Rheinland (especially rheinland) was hurt alot by capitalism, and that it is time for something else. SCRA activists and the "unlawfuls" out there can actually make some change.

SCRA offers a great roleplay, and a grave danger if they get some strong allies. Their lone system is far from houses and houses are content with that.
20% might be off, but when i was doing numbers i was thinking about 20% infants and mothers that need to take care of them

Indeed SCRA's influence is spreading, the LRF in Liberty (Heavy-Moderate Influence) the Rheinland Revolutionary Alliance (Heavy-Influence), soon it will even spread to Bretonia and Kusari, all just a matter of time before somebody decides to make a revolutionary Pro-SCRA group in those sectors.;)

The reason being is that SCRA's RP is quite interesting and provides people with something other than the usual "OMG PAIRAT! PEW PEW PEW!" or the "SMUGGLA! DROOP EET!".

Again, the percentages don't entirely matter, since we're not playing a population demographic simulator. Women are used in combat, though, slightly less common than men in most peoples' stories, but I imagine that men would be physically better suited to most of the roles taken in stories, such as that of marines. Women may or may not form the majority on crews of capital ships, for instance.

On what sort of Communism, well, it depends. It's brutal, to a point, but not entirely unfair. Harsh but fair might be the slogan used, 'harsh' being a euphemism.

Anyway, Permanent Revolution as opposed to Popular Front appears to be the flavour at the moment, not uniting with capitalists against fascists, treating them all the same in a Trotskyist fashion.

So, yeah, think Soviet Union pre-Stalin, maybe?

It's all science fiction anyway, so it probably won't fit any precise mould.

i think Liberty political situation, is a very good one for a socialist revolution, the poverty is growing the corporations are getting richer, the prision-factory-slavery is a very bad thing, the military is almost in full government of the house.
