This is Jack Norris of the LSF. Yesterday, me and a wing of LSF fighters responded to some miner distress calls. When we got there, it was a hairball of OOC confusion, and I would like to apologize for it.

Edit: I'll pop in now and then while you guys are mining to act as a guard.

This is DSE)Guss.Hicks, any help would be greatly appreciated, seeing as the only dedicated guard ship we had (me) got lolsanctioned.

My Camara will pop in and do some mining. I suppose I need to start funding me a money making ship again.

Quote:However, make sure you are aware that as this will be a continuous event run by the official DSE faction, we will moderate all participation to keep it enjoyable to as many people as we possibly can. If you completely choke operations with a pirating group, you would not be welcome and will be asked -- or forced, if necessary -- to leave. If, on the other hand, you pirate reasonably, milking the operation perhaps by pirating leaving transports or isolated miners, we will not have a problem. For terrorists, be a little more creative than physically terrorizing participants to death. If that's not possible for you, you will likely not be welcome either.

If you would like a shot at destroying the Barge, I would like to request that you contact me so we can arrange a special event for it. The game harshly limits in-universe realistic possibilities, and I feel that the best way to ensure that results are reasonable and satisfactory to all parties is to plan it as players before letting our character loose. It's not an excuse to give DSE a chance to mount an indomitable defence, it's to give both you and us an opportunity to make the encounter as fun as possible. If all you are after is a blue message, a screenshot or five, and a thread in Flood, we will use the rights and powers bestowed upon us to make it clear that such sentiment is absolutely unwanted.
Quote:[font=Arial]RIGHT 4) Official Factions who have planned an event can restrict participation of others in that event as they see fit.
Quote:3 & 4) Official factions have the responsibility to consider the overall well-being of the Mod and player base in general when planning activities and faction rules, and should seek to enhance the gameplay on the server as a whole, or gameplay within their regional territory as a whole whenever possible. Faction rules and events should be implemented for the greater good of gameplay for all groups impacted by them, not just the group creating them. Consultations with groups that are affected by faction rules or events is a simple courtesy that should always be offered. While membership in an official faction may be exclusive, the faction should strive for inclusiveness in terms of creating fun and rewarding gameplay for as many other players as possible.

I assume that you say the first quote believing that the second quote allows you to.

Okay. Here's the deal. See that bolded part? That says that you shouldn't be setting your events up for personal profit. Part of setting up events is preparing a defense instead of telling pirates they cannot interrupt your profiteering without telling you ahead of time. They have no reason to break character to inform you. It cannot be that difficult to keep one or two people in bombers. I've heard you've flown six miners with a Barge there and... No escorts. Put two miners in bombers and you're safe from anything less than a battleship. Which can't shoot you, anyway.

I'd also like to hear about less //ooc chat telling pirates they cannot pirate your Barge. We will take one away from you if we keep seeing stuff like this.

Now, to wipe the slate clean and begin again as if I never received this. Consider this a warning.
