Whoa...allot of negativity connected to Guard Systems it seems.
Here's an interesting fact; a faction's home system doesn't have to be a guard system!
Omicron-94 is a hub for Corsair commerce, imports tonnes of resources, exports Artefacts, and has plenty of mysteries for intrepid explorers to investigate.

Personally, I'd prefer if many of the guard systems followed a similar route, and if specific top-security bases kept their guard status within non-guard systems, with their own fortifications.
The idea of a fortified system doesn't wash anyway...as, in RP, capital ships can use a hyperdrive-type thingy to get from system to system (see Osiris, or Rhineland fleets in Single-player). Therefore, in RP, fortifying jumpholes doesn't protect your systems from invasion, and so guard "systems" dont really fit with lore.
Guard "regions" do work; such as Zone-21, BPA Newgate etc. We could do with having more of these.

I like guard systems as an idea, and the ID's are cool too. Guard systems are the faction's High Command center, you know, ect ect.

But for the love of god make them not connect to other guard systems. Its like "Oh hey Xeno Guard [says KSP Guard]. Im tottaly going to leave you in Tau-45 and not invade or anything. Yeah."

Why would the Corsairs base off of Crete.. but use Gaurd Systems for High Command?

Sense not made.

And Xeno KSP is a bit ridiculous.

Carlos hit the nail on the head, in my opinion.

The only thing I'm a bit iffy about is having more guard regions like Corinth in O-74. That bloody passage is an absolute nightmare to navigate. It doesn't help that every few seconds a lightning flash lights the cloud up and all you can see is a wall of mines EVERYWHERE, even where the passage is clear...
Speaking of O-74, I believe some "consortium" owns it now? (]c[) or something. Anyway, the point I want to make is that I, personally, don't think access to this system should be restricted because they own it, given that it's the only place to buy zoner guard ID, Jinkusu, Fearless, and probably more that I've missed. Some (]c[) guy poked my shiny new Corvo about it yesterday about them owning it, and considering the rather free nature of the system (there's a FREEPORT in it, for goodness' sake) having it restricted is a major angryface point for me.

Maybe have, for example, a blacklist of people who aren't allowed in, or something, but not total exclusion.

Also, more faction-owned-hub systems would be nice, as said above.

It doesnt matter what faction controls the system, they cant stop you from buying X ship, (making sure it has the right ID and IFF, ect). They could stop a blood dragon, say from buying a jinkusu though.

I like unique areas like Corinth, Attica and others. Its cool finding secrets in these systems. There are unique planets in some guard systems (Vespucci's planet that starts with an I, real close to the sun)

And not to menition (SPOILERRRRR) The 3 Unstable Jump Holes scattered throughout sirius, one of which is in Omicron-92 right next to Don Quixote (drops Golden Blade)

That, is what I call a fun system.

Guard systems should never be short cuts. I have seen one too many people using Omicron 74 to access Kappa to reach Outcast and Corsair systems. Zoner or not. Besides, (]c[) now officially owns the system and I try to enforce a "no go" rule but I can't be there all the time.

' Wrote:Many of these guard systems were made/owned by player factions. They should be the ones to decide. Bring this up to all system-owning factions.

Well unless the rule's have changed? the owner's make up the rule's to Guard system's. So if (]c[) say's you die if you enter 74? then you die. I think it should be same for all guard system's.
As for 1 entrance only? that would be up to the owner's? would it not?

For the record if a ZtC guy was screwin with a zoner guard IDd corvo he would get laughed at by every other zoner if he tried to make anyhting of your being there.

I will take anyone else entering our system as a personal insult. I will do my best to get sanctioned those that log off in it without being found, or blasted apart. I will get mad, angry and upset each time an intruder enters (definition varies). I will want to prevent interactions with other players on a server that is often operating at full capacity. I will introduce a system to the game solely for the purpose of keeping players out of it. I like to order around anyone who enters. It gives me a sense of power.

Most of all, it will be just MIIINE!

To spoil the fun for those that didn't figure it out yet - I was not being serious. Rather sarcastic. My intention was to point out few ridiculous absurdities.

One of those I didn't mention is small factions having superpowered guard systems.

Also single solar system is something so vast that it can't be effectively guarded by as much as two hundred people. The "guarded space" in vanilla was Zone 21, or the Rheinland minefield in Frankfurt, or the Kusari research station in Honshu, or perhaps the BPA Newgate. Not even houses had dedicated systems with restricted access. That's something to consider, maybe.

I've never been a fan of guard systems, truth be told.
As stated above, they don't really fit or make sense.

And thats why Im suggesting limiting hte JH access to most of them.

Some, like Omicron 74, actualy make a good bit of sense and fit in the fold well.

Some, Virginia for example, are best as a shortcut to cali/kansis/texas.

Although ganking the occasional power miner that doesnt understand (or care) that its not a shortcut (and therefore refuses to listen to your demands) IS amusing.
