Just having a single ID for the Queen / Chancellor / President would be rather pointless as their characters almost never appear in space. Rather it is lesser government officials and diplomats that fly to and fro between Houses and Planets mainly for diplomatic purposes - an extra layer of RP as by having such figures in space they can be negotiated with, talked to, attacked by pirates or those seeking to kidnapp or assassinate them, thus protected by military forces etc. which creates activity for everyone, including simple spectators who turn out to watch diplomacy or politics in action.

Now, at present all my government related characters use BPA or BAF IDs, which is far from ideal as people who are fairly new to the game and don't recognise characters or tags by sight panic thinking there is an invasion when such characters are seen abroad, or otherwise react in the wrong way - something which I would like to avoid. There is also the problem that the ID restrictions are not exactly suited to how government characters should by RPed - my suggestion for the ID description on the previous page would considerably improve matters. I added the "may trade" line more to allow the carrying of in RP cargo such as a liner of passangers heading to a diplomatic conference - I'm not sure to what extent the rules are flexible in allowing ships that "may not trade" to actually have a full hold of inRP cargo, but if they are then that line can be removed.

There is no need to have specific IDs for each House - just make the ID text so that it must be combined with an appropriate tag to indicate the House of origin.

but they'd have to be sold at the Guard station in Bastille.

Hmm I'm in agreeance with LeMaitre they rarely appear in space:DI've never seen the queen on in my life.... I saw your post before and was confused by the need for Id's for individuals over a rather large body of people as these individual's are individuals within their respective houses they are not the entire nation government themselves they don't do everything. I imagine as in every government you have thousands of officials with various jobs and professions that make the enormous body which is a government work. From the perspective of my government official I have been on 1 diplomatic mission on my own and observed about 5 I think in the presence of higher (Lord Canning and I think once Lord Nelson - rped courtesy of Lemaitre) and many visits to our embassy on all occasions when I have been accompanied I have never seen the queen and in the extension of highest ranking officials with me it has been the head of the foreign and colonial and well our fleet admiral.

Hmm I would have thought that it would be better to have an individual ID for each of the 5 houses... It seems to make a general ID like that it would make it like a civilian ID faceless houseless just civilian um however I guess I can see your idea would make it a lot easier and efficient process of making such an ID but would not having the name of the actual house in the ID leave no question to the house he or she belongs and rule out any question of confusion?

Are there any other details that one would need to work out for such an ID

@ Dusty Lens apart from the Specific details to the ID which you have in the example of what one would do for Bretonia essentially you would just have to change the word Bretonia to the relevant house of the 5 houses otherwise if you are looking for a general Govt ID that all factions could use one would probably only need to just remove the house name and leave the wording of government best to probably do that if it is much more efficient and easier to do.

UM is there any other details or specifications you would need from me Dusty ?

The proposal LaMaitre put forward for the wording of the ID itself is rather nice. I would suggest removing the 'can trade' section, adding 'may only attack in self defence' and the ship list being basically:

Fighter according to house.
Transports and liners.

Aside from that, I think thye idea fills a gap we currently have in our RP setup. The concept has my thumbs up, but I'd yo put significantly more time and thought into the to application of the idea. The suggestions I made were just what struck me on first reading it.

aye a diplomat ID....

Requires TOP rep with EVERY lawful faction in that house

meaning..
Libertonian Diplomat

LN
LNG
LSF
LSFG
LPI
LPIG
Universal Shipping
DSE
Ageira
Synth Foods
Interspace Commerce

all these must be at highest level... before you -may- purchase the diplomat ID wich costs some millions and is good for nothing (really, cant trade, only attack in self defence, cannot claim bounties, can only fly; Conference Zoner Gunboat, Enterprise Luxury Liner, Democritus Luxury Yatch, Pelican Armoured Transport or X-Shuttle)

What.

You do realise that it's been taken off the market, and with an offensive nature it's hardly diplomatic.

:3 Hey everyone.... Know this is really thread digging...BUT!

I still think this is a really good idea and it seemed to have a fair amount of support for it. I have found an issue which would greatly need it to rectify an issue.

Me personally as my ambassador on my Royal liner or off official business on minor business have been present in Rheinland and liberty... on current ID BPA or civie... Kusari waltz into the ally house and instantly turn all NPC's against me. A government Id would really cure this from that perspective.

In addition :3 there are a few people now screaming its a BAF or its a BPA or better yet its a SPY...... ID would get rid of this issue too.

Try Diplomat or Ambassador.

I am sure some criminal factions and the Corsairs and Outcasts should have ambassadors and leaders as well.

Or Company Executive or such with Corporate Company IFFs.
