I agree, and if he offered a fun RP experiance, instead of "drop all your cargo, or i kill you" I would have no issue. Hell i performed a wedding for pirate's once when stopped, and after gave them 50mil just cause i had a ball. After all. Fun is first, and most important reason why we play here.

I see no problem in Pirating Underlevels, as long as the demand is low, if only to give them a good Pirating experience early off.

On a side note of my own, you don't need to use apostrophes before an s unless you're denoting ownership of something.
'Larry's Yacht'

Not on plurals.

You are obliged to make one, and only one demand of Samura traders you encounter - that they publicly denounce the Emperor in system chat. If they do not comply you are obliged to destroy them, and destroy their cargo if it cannot be salvaged.

Does this fall under your parameters for an 'unreasonable demand'?

That i consider RP. He is willing to RP,and give trader a chance if they agree to term's,and he keep's cargo. Also if my Bowex wnet into Kusari(and it never does) I would fully expect and true Kusari to want me dead, and my cargo destroyed. It makes perfect RP sense. War and all.

PS. I like apostrophes it pisses grammer junkies off.

So yes, without the exact context of the situation in the topic starters post, its impossible to know if it was overcharging or not and it seems just like another 'OMG! I haz kill pirate Gunship in mah tansport!!' gloating.

Here we are yet again.

A Pirate who wants his victim to sit quietly and take their medicine like a good Trader right from the start and then put their demand up if the Trader doesn't RP properly.

Running is what a Trader is going to try and do, it's your job to make them stop, if the Trader doesn't try to run then they aren't being serious about it. If you think about it, it is almost NOT RP to not try to run.

If you try to stop me, the reaction you are going to get is going to be, as you put it, "What do you want?" while I'm hammering the cruise key.

This is in character for a Trader or it is for MY Trader.
If a Trader is stopped by a Pirate, they are going to try and get away. They will be grumpy about being knocked out of cruise/trade lane, so they are going to be abrupt with their language.

Time = Credits to a Trader, especially if they have 'perishables' aboard.

I'm not saying your rules aren't good.... for you, but they won't be rules that a lot of Traders are going to want to follow.

I *may* kill my engines, but there is a pretty good chance I will have been under thrusters, so even if I stop, I will have some 'drift' happening.

Don't get uptight about the fact that I'm drifting, just be happy that I'm not actively maneuvering to place you under all of my guns at the same time.

Yes in most cases i do agree. Run when ever you think you got a chance, and stop when you know you do not,or want to RP. Also i love when pirates sit right behind my Shire where all 12 guns can fire. So when i think they are done RP'n,or just 2 mil or dai prick's. I just open up with all 12 guns while they sit there typing. In other word's. Be a dick, and you have no reason to cry when that trader kill's you suddenly without a word. Cause as admins have said many times. Once a pirate says 2mil or dai,RP has been performed, and trader can fire as RP has been performed, and does not require both party's to speak.

Running is a form of RP in itself.
Allow me to make this clear;
RP IS NOT JUST TALKING.

Sure try to run and get away while you are still a few k away, try to exit the Tradelane earlier and go back or try to fly around the pirate, but once the pirate is within 1.5 or 1k, running usually is futile.

If you try to speak while powering cruise or 'drift' on thrusters and whatnot, you'll eat antimatter until you do stop. Guaranteed. You'll also get a demand for all your cargo and everything else goes from there, including negotiations over a lesser demand, if you finally decide to stop.

Oh and being rude to someone who is pointing a SNAC at you head...istn't a very bright idea.

I agree. It is indeed very low,and i only do to those who are being nasty,and/or refuse to RP, and just keep saying 2mil or dai. So as i said.Be nasty, and get nasty back. I personally know of a few player's here who just play to annoy other's,and take away others fun. Sadly they consider doing that to be fun for them.

Q_Q

ontopic, I think that 'excessive' demands have their place, and a trader that doesn't at least attempt to get away isn't a very competent shipping captain, and that "10milrdai" demands are irking, but more restrictions will not bring about a better pirate/trader interaction.

Let me explain that.

A good player will consistently give a good pirate/trader interaction, provided a willing partner. Regardless of the rules.

A "10milrdai" player, will consistently give a distasteful pirate/trader interaction, regardless of the rules.

We will just change the whining from "all my cargo with minimal RP" to "the maximum he could with minimal RP", and we won't remember what the rule was trying to accomplish, it will just lead to more rule mongering and angsty threads about xxx rule or yyy person.
