That Taiiden Bomber was an over powered poorly textured import with an infocard that claimed it was an alien design and furthermore, everyone and their dog used it. I hated those things...
And yet...:ylove:
A small and slightly deranged of me misses hopping on the server and clearing Sigma-13 of lunchboxes and dessies with a couple of GMG| Taiiden bombers. Thanks to Dio-Nio, it happened almost every day. Now would be an appropriate time to air "An Ode to the Taiiden" by Dusty Lens, but I couldn't find it with the search function. It must have been wiped with the rest of flood...
However, missing the Taiiden isn't the same as wanting it to replace the Kaichou. You might miss your deceased dog, but does that mean you want him to emerge from his grave a decrepit Zombie and kill your new cuddly puppy?
funny - what most people miss ( except the people )
- the easy going freedom of the older days ... yet, restrictions were mostly based on what the people wanted
- some of the easier encounters .... more of a "wild west mentality" ... again, it was players who wanted to press it all into a set of rules ( like "engaging is not enough RP" - when in the old days, on dedicated enemies, "red is dead" was actually acceptable [ like corsairs / outcasts ] )
- some of the ships that were considered "unbalanced" ( while it was usually on behalf of the community that they got nerft ... like bottlenose, missileboats etc )
just observing - how most people liked the easy gameplay back then - and how the overcomplicated gameplay nowadays is unappreciated, yet - when you look into the threads about tightening the rules and leaving less freedom ( ID restrictions, equipment chart, ZoI stuff etc ) - its very often the same people who are in favour of it.
anyway - yes, the rather easy going way was nice back then...
especially
- bounty hunting in 4.82 / 83 .... so easy, so uncomplicated
- equipment rules .... "don t put tizonas and krakens on the same ship... but other than that, as long as your RP is fine... go for it"
- ZoI - if your RP says, you have business there - so be it!
but all in all - its not really much different now. - it just gets known... . compare it to a new computer game - and ask yourself how many games there are that you really spend 100+ hours at having fun. - it requires neverending challenges, new features etc. - and in that respect - yes, the updates come at a "way too slow rate" here.... .
