Where are the biodomes that make FP15 the largest producer of food in the Omicrons?
Unfortunately, FPXV's 16 biodomes were removed because people whined about it blocking docking of battleships that decided to auto-dock instead of use the quickdock points. It is supposed to have 16 biodomes, they were removed for this version, and are planned to be re-added next version in a new arrangement. (Though probably 8 domes, not 16).
' Wrote:Sunlight still only covers a plane; you don't measure arable land in volume, but in surface area that can be pointed at the sun. A thin cylinder of radius r and a hemisphere of radius r have exactly the same amount of real estate that you can park crops on.
' Wrote:Dab, food isn't a fluid. Your math doesn't make any sense in regards to terrestrial crop production.
But when you take into effect layers, that 3rd dimension does come into account, making volume important. If you apply the math in my post, half of the volume of the biodome is removed to account for space not available to be used as land for growing. This includes the space between layers. The final number is pure space of growing land available, no matter how it is arranged.

*sigh*
Junkers, IND, Hogosha, AFA, Samura, Corsairs Pirating, People who smuggle Artifacts

A biodome, for those of you who don't know, is essentially a plot of earth within a self contained environment used for the economic growth of crop production by virtue of a local stellar body. Crops seem to range from traditional to synth weeds.
Yes, please mock me instead of clarifying what I meant, moderator.
I knew we were talking about biodomes.
However, my question had the inference of biodomes being different to crops on a planet.

Eh.
I apologize if you felt I was mocking you, citizen.
Given your status as a career Zoner I was somewhat taken aback by the idea that you didn't understand what I meant by terrestrial farming. So I presumed that, rather than attempting to make some sort of off color post, you were crafting a hypothetical question to answer a portion of my original post which I failed to properly elaborate on.
If that was not the case I would call into question why you made such a post but, instead, I shall content myself with the following:

Fixed for you.
Everyone knows its illogical to even think to try to compare FL to RL. It just DOES NOT WORK. Everyone does it to battleships then forgets battleships of that day had 50+ weapons while the most we can have is 18.

All well and good, but you still have not answered my question.
