Maybe do it as a mirror/parallel Sirius. Sending it back to a few years just after settlement. That way people can start their own factions and you would not need that many systems.

make a new mod if you want to do that.

As far as the ship model sizes (size of pilot, ships, etc), the scale is pretty good. The scale of *some* stations, and the planets, however, should be a little larger in my perosnal opinion. RP it how you want as to why at 5 K a Rheinland battleship can almsot eclipse a planet, thep lanets are too small in my opinion.

On a more related note, the Nightstalkers Universe Mod has speeds far in excess of Freeworlds or whatever, and fighter versus fighter combat is still very balanced. All that was required was a buff of weapon speeds.

mhm, and TNG made cockp[it fighting viable for fighters too, but that was mostly a missile mod anyways.

Scales is good idea, it would bring much more realism to game.

And i think we can make cruise speed as like in eve online (walk drive, or something like that) it means that when you targeting on the nearerst planet, your speed sharply increases and in 5-10 seconds you ll be there. No more tradelines.
But increased cruise disruptors would be usefull thing.

I think dev team could find some ideas in eve

Since there's a limit of 900k from center of the sun (IIRC) that means we would have problem with increasing planets to ship size.

Why not shrink down ships?
Nevermind the sun - planet distances, unless you want to shrink the planets too. But ideal thing to do would be to shrink ships, and if you want to take it a step further, you can shrink everything and jam two systems in one. Jump gates and everything still stands, only two systems are in the one system and that way you have more interaction per system.

That certainly would be awesome...

I just recently found a moon in some far off system that was literally the length of a Battle cruiser... I couldn't get close enough to it to cover the edges of my screen without entering it's atmosphere...

So yeah... things in the mod can seem a bit strange at times... some systems seem huge and awe inspiring... massive gas giants and distant unreachable stars make for the most aesthetically pleasing systems imo...

It would be the biggest overhaul of a mod this popular and large... with many problems arising I am sure...

A test system would be great to add to Discovery, like the Sol System in Crossfire Mod, where players can go, maybe OORP to fly about and see what they all think...

No I mean Crossfire Mod, I played it for a few years casually but after I explored everything it got boring with the lack of players and the fact there was only ever fights going on between the fastest ships in the game... it was pretty much all you could do...
