I've had ships jumping all over the place because of lag. I shoot dead-on and suddenly they've teleported 100m away and I of course miss. I don't know if that's something wrong with Discovery because this is the only FL I've played online.

No longer active online due to a dwindling amount of non-PvP (trading, pirating, mining, etc.) fun in the new version.

Hi!

I'm a newcomer on disco, and i love what igiss & co have done here. Still i have to agree that npc levels are bit too high. Someone mentioned that it would be better to co-operate against th NPCs. Yes, that can be big fun, but this is a RP and everyone should have a chance to play their game they want, co-op or not. I'm going to join some faction sooner or later of course, but as far as i concern, it's more fun to explore the sirius, do some business and put up a fight all by myself.

Maybe lowering the sensitivity on the mouse would be a good idea?

OK. Thanks.

Also, Single Earred Dude needs a frequent source of quotes for his signature.:rtfm:

You might be right. The sensitivity seems perfect in Windows XP, but I've never adjusted it in-game.

This makes I think.. the third thread with a long line of people talking about this NPC issue as far as I've seen in the past 2 days. And a number of people who have said they want to leave the server until the issue is addressed.

At least its nice to know I'm not alone in seeing this crap of NPC's taking a pounding from lvl 10 weapons and zero damage showing..

Any comment from the Admins to come? Please? Your clients are asking for some help with the matter.

I've reached my limit.

My problem isn't with missions, since I rarely do any.

My problem is that killing mid-level NPCs with a mid-level ship (the X-Shuttle) is ridiculously hard. Just traveling within house systems takes forever now.

Don't tell me that I need to fly with another player. That's not practical for me. I'm a taxi driver in real life, so I often have to leave the game within minutes. I don't know if I'll be playing for hours or minutes, nor do I know how often I'll be interrupted (since I frequently have to answer my company's phones).

Don't tell me that the X-Shuttle flies like a brick. I know its strengths and weaknesses. If the energy for weapons fire was nerfed in the 4.84 version of the X-Shuttle, that was a major mistake. I don't know if it was. I do know that I could kill mid-level NPCs with an X-Shuttle in 4.83, but that is now nearly impossible in 4.84. The NPCs now are ridiculously hard to kill.

I could post the details of what happened to me recently, but it's not that different from the problems I mentioned in my first post.

I'll return once a month to play my characters, so they won't get wiped. I've enjoyed playing here, because I like interacting with other players. I may go back to playing 4.83, since two of the 4.83 servers where I have characters are still running 4.83, but they might have wiped my characters. Unfortunately, those servers have almost no players on them and I hate playing on a server by myself. I guess I'll probably switch to another mod. I think I'll be back once the 4.85 betas get started if the AI returns to 4.83 levels.

He has a point. The NPC ballence has gotten pretty out of hand in my opinion and I feel some others feel this same way.

Hope you come abck soon.

If I start a character from scratch (i.e. no money transfers to get the character started), I buy a CSV as soon as I can afford it. I eventually replace the CSV with the X-Shuttle, then the Camara freighter. Note that I don't usually fly fighters in Discovery, since I think the Discovery fighter shields are too weak (4.82-4.84) and I like to fly freighters and transports.

I could defeat BHG Barracudas in 4.83 with a moderately-equipped X-Shuttle. Now I have trouble defeating BHG Piranhas with a well-equipped X-Shuttle. Forget about Barracudas. A few hours ago, using a well-equipped X-Shuttle, I tried to defeat three Outcast Daggers, but the first got away when he was almost dead (I couldn't finish him off) and the second proved impossible to kill before I finally gave up. Not to mention the Barracudas with uber-shields that I couldn't defeat 24 hours ago. I was annoyed about the Barracudas, but encountering Outcast Daggers that can't be killed with an X-Shuttle proved to be the last straw.

Igiss seems to have forgotten that players need to recover some bots and bats from defeating NPCs. Unless I kill NPCs really fast or they are a lot weaker than me, I get very few or no bots and bats. Combat in 4.84 takes two or three times longer than it did in 4.83 because the NPCs are using up almost all the bots and bats.

Verg: If I find another mod that I prefer (i.e. one that is actually playable), I may not return. To say that I'm upset is an extreme understatement.:(

EDIT: There is no excuse for the AI being this hard. This is a problem that should have been discovered and corrected when we were working on the 4.84 betas.
