as I said, simple joke refering to the fact most people think in a communist state everything is equal equal equal in the extreme. I know slightly about communist economy as well - I read these kind of things from time to time, plus we are learning about it in economic course.

anyway, I don't feel dynamic economy is really needed. Maybe make a few more of the profitable route using both trade lanes and cruise engine alternatively would be good. I only know of 2 atm.

IMO...if we make the mission abit harder...makes more money (like 2million~5million,or may be even 10 million)...so we have 2 option, you either use your gun to make money or use your time to make money...that would be the best way....for now...the mission is like...only like around 45K or even lower for each mission....no one like to do it unless for rep..

indeed... on vanilla FL, missions were kinda worth it, when you think they paid you nearly half a million for those in malta for instance. And half a million was something in vanilla FL, yeah...

Aye, missions need to pay more...

This would also cut down on oorp trade. Almost everyone, including myself, have a primary trading char with which we trade for all our other chars. While we find RP ways around it, such as Red Afonso getting occasionally arrested and "fined," it would be best if fighter and trader chars were all self-sufficient.

Yeah, of course, Xing knows economics just fine. He is Chinese after all.:P

The problem with missions, are that too many missions cause uber-lag, apparently.

I know of a few....and...dunno if anything is actually *needed*...but its a feature I would like to see implemented, transport whore that I am.

missions have a lag issue tied to them....makes things difficult...we really don't want them to be too profitable.

There are missions for 500k+ in omicron alpha for outcasts.

Mission payouts are huge. But they are balanced with alot of risk for that reward.

Trading is only balanced with the reward when player pirates attack/pirate the trader. If theres no player pirates, theres no risk and loads of reward. Same goes for smugglers, except it's lawfuls instaed of pirates.

Forget about a dynamic economy, up the risks for traders so they can't just hit 'goto' and let the computer do the flying for a few minutes. I'd rather they have to sit there and sweat alittle whenever a contact enters their scanner range.

How to do so... remove the trader ID, theres plenty of corp IDs for the trading companies, it'll also give the smaller pirate groups some targets to gun for over others.

eg: Xenos ignore liberty ID'd traders and only go after foreign company ID'd traders.

LWB and farmers alliance ignore other traders if theres a synthfood ID'd trader in sight.

Unioners and hessians pirate other traders whilst killing dauman and kruger traders.

Blood dragons pirate foreign company ID'd traders, ignore kishiro traders and KoS samura traders.

GC pirate any and all traders they find.

Mollies ignore traders only if theres BPA or BAF targets to kill.

Rogues try to pirate anything they come across.

Outcasts smuggle, pirating only if their holds are empty and they can be bothered. KoS GMG and IMG ID'd vessels for trespassing.

Corsairs not smuggling or fighting outcasts pirate anything they can stop.

More risk, to balance out the reward.

Well, I'd personally love that dynamic trade system. Would surely liven things up as per the now dead commodities (Who trades food rations these days?)

So - if we combine the lie trade with higher mission payouts (2 mil being an absolute maximum, and low-level missions paying more anyway), we'll get some easier ways of making cash. No set trade runs, self-sustainability of combat vessels and some more work for pirates.

I know I complain allot...but I am actually VERY HAPPY with the current trade system.

Afew small issues need to be ironed out, but otherwise, I like it.
  • Passengers to Omicron Gamma is severely OORP. Tourists do not want to go there. Neither do VIPs. These people are a security risk and cause food shortages. From an RP perspective, theres no reason they should be sent to Gamma for profit.
  • The Alaska route is still not nearly opressive enough. I'd like to see that route becoming so risky it's practically cut for all traders. Combine that with a new jumphole from California to NY, and suddenly people will be able to smuggle properly.
