If somebody yells for help and I'm on my LN-Guard, I don't *have* to go running to help them out, but I do.
I don't go around randomly blowing people up because I have a big ship. Guess that means I'm not a "lolwut".
Same goes for my FL ID'd chars, the helping part that is, but it very much depends on what I'm doing at the time.
I now own a Samura IFF/ID Akageta and I'm more or less still finding my feet with that, figuring out where I can and can't go.
Lastly I have a Indie Corsair Praetor.
Normally I can be found minding my own business and being nice to the various traders that pass by in Omega-47.
I sometimes stop by Gamma for a while and get blown up by passing Outcast raiding fleets.
Indies are people's right. They have as much right to be independent as they have to be in a official faction or make one.
Being a official faction does not mean that your roleplay is reached it's peak, nor does being an indie. It's not the independents who worry me anymore, it's the people who do not realize their rp always has room to improve.
slapping an "official faction" or "indie" on a player does not measure his roleplay.

This is both a good and bad thing.
I don't see how it can be a bad thing, indies are people who do not have a faction and make their own RP standards in the box of their ID, if someone controlled them they would stop being indies.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
*clap*
Without indies, Rod (when he was,Rodent) wouldnt have flown into a mini razor. My mini razor to be exact.
All of us were/are indies.
Im one of the most well known Order indie besides the TCG. We all have our RP. We have room to innovate, stretch the RP. Lolwuts are the problem.
Russell told me having the OCV tag is an immediate label as lolwut.
OCV =/= lolwut
LNS =/= lolwut
Most lolwuts do not follow the predescribed naming convention. But thise who do, now get the others called lolwut.
If we take this, and make, as Pacific wants (my example) the Order a faction-only like the HF or SCRA, you see those non-lolwut indies? They's bread discontent. You make any more factions invite only, the server population will dry up. Minor will never be crowded. No real battles. Indies bring the extra help officals need, or maybe a new player group to add another aspect to the faction.
Indies make up 80% of most non-closed factions. Take that away, there will be a gazillion fighters/bombers, floating around, everywhere, doing nothing. Alpha, Gamma, Minor, all empty.
We need indies. This is not Factionlancer.
I probably went off on a bit of a tangent, sorry...
