Really, except the nom turrets scorp, a ship doesn't become more or less overpowered, if you change the guns. It either is overpowered, or it isn't. Krakens are overpowered, so is the sabre...mix the two and...
Making all guns the same? Hm... I hope it won't end with a vanilla server style of all Eagle fighters everywhere. Though in our case it would be Sabre? I like different guns being balanced differently, also a 2K damage particle is by no means a 2K damage laser, since laser is crap against all gravitron shields which are used the most.

P.S. Plus, I like the thrill of facing someone with meaner guns from time to time.
Nah. Wouldn't really make sense in my opinion. And besides, where's the fun if everything's equal ? I personally have fun playing with "crap" weapons, too. Just like playing with underused/underpowered guns in FPS's. You actually get better that way. People who only use l33t weapons don't improve, or atleast barely.
I would only add more civilian refire type weapons.
And maybe 2 type weapons per faction. for example : kraken and wyrms that outcasts have...etc.
Adding to this: currently chainguns are AWFUL. They are TERRIBLE. They also have inconsistent damage type. A decent civilian gun (1600-1800 dps) for each damage type, sold universally, would help this problem alot.
And don't tell me civilians can't have plasma guns, because they make and sell razors, basic gunboat turrets, etc. ...
I fail to see how code sellers would be come useless.
AFAIK he's only talking about balancing the level 9 weapons against each other. Presumably the level 10 weapons would remain the same, and still do more damage...

You can have diversity without overpowered combinations. Overpowered combinations don't add diversity, they add unfairness.
