Here we go again. And what if the GB have CAU8?

Well, I'd either go with the ramming or supplying trader with bots and bats. If trader's armour is adequate, then he's fine.
Another option, if trader is in a decent ship, go with ramming while trader is shooting that PTrans. This way trader will have a significant advantage in the "duel".
EDIT: There's always yet another option. 6.10.
Although it's kinda the last resort... ^^

And what if GB owner isn't someone willing to spend hours and hours of his life on grinding virtual money on the virtual things, but just wants to get some fun at friday evening?
Nvm, offtopic anyway.

Nope, you can't attack him unless you're official faction-tagged.
I think caps should be able to use pulse weapons against hostile trade vessels to drain their core and shields, making their effectiveness greatly reduced and increasing the chance of whatever ship is being pirated to take them out.

Put that too for the pirate cruisers accomplished by small pirate vessels and you will see why this is wrong.

Sounds like that guy hoped you'd shoot him so he could sanction you. I'd have thrown in a report for trying to lure you into a rule violation if the screenshots are sufficient to show the entire encounter.

Y'know. That bit about "the problem is people pirating in cruisers" really struck me.
This entire time the mod seems to have been geared around a fantasy world in which the most advanced military in Sirius has the same quality of equipment as the most rag-tag pirate faction.
If lawfuls are allowed to destroy transports and such in capital ships, and pirates and unlawfuls aren't (in space that doesn't belong to them at least) then it would actually bring a bit of balance to the issue. Battleships dot the houses left and right, along with cruiser patrols and the like. There's no reason why a cruiser captain should have to sit back and watch people die just because of some arbitrary rule that wasn't even intended for his circumstances.
Besides, if somebody posts the "abuse" card then I'd ask you: what does it matter when you already, and always will have, lolwuts blowing up random stuff in capital ships anyway? So they'll romp around for a bit and get sanctioned, end of story. It doesn't warrant a BS rule that results in the situation described here.
"Oh I'm sorry, it's a waste of resources. Sorry about your three-thousand passengers, maybe a rescue ship will show up."
How about:
"Capital ships of cruiser size or above may only assist in combat against transports, but are not allowed to issue demands towards them, except:"
*list of exceptions here*
And no, I didn't spend much time thinking about possible abuse this time since I should actually learn for my exam tomorrow and am just taking a short break right now.

I agree, this rule must be thoroughly reworked. It cannot be that lawful and allied cruisers are not allowed to help against pirating transports. But it is difficult, because people will abuse every and all loopholes in the rules, like "Oh, that transport is shooting back at my PTrans buddy? Fry him!"
