Yet their station holds even mercenaries abroad. And criminals. And sells most of illegal stuff.
If that is an explanation, why Freelancer ID is allowed to take less than legal bounties.
I think your attempt to explain was speculation without insight.
We don't have visible differences over FL and Merc, their IDs have same restrictions, yet tech chart differers hugely. Order and BD hold themselves as legal and truthful organisation and movement. So they might grand tech to Freelancer, those more lawful, with less risk to turn around and backstab, yes?

Edison Trent, the most famous Freelancer, was outlawed by the 4 houses during the SP storyline, he also had close relations both Blood Dragons & The Order. He was also one of the very few who had been to Kyoto Base, the legendary home of the Blood Dragons that only few outsiders had seen with their own eyes, and most of the time his group used jumpholes not because it was faster, but because they wanted to go under the radar so the lawfuls cant detect them. Not to mention he was the most wanted man by the Bounty Hunters Guild soon as he left Liberty.
However, I'm not arguing with your point cause after all, you did give the community the "deal with it" line so there's no point arguing. I'm simply giving you some 'debate material' in case admins team ever decide to discuss the lawfulness of Freelancer ID.
That said, thanks for extending Gallic tech ZoI on generic IDs. Most appreciated.

Trent had an admin-granted Terrorist ID, obviously))
Alright, if Freelancers are on the more lawful side, they should still be white celled for order as they are not really unlawfuls, only presented as terrorists but anyone who bother to dig the truth discover it's not that way.
Zelot, what about the Council? I'm asking because while their primary ZoI is limited to the Gallic systems;
- the faction itself travels around the Sirius; and the same question stands for the other Gallic factions that tend to operate in a much wider secondary ZoI. Yet the Council is generally most accepted around the original four Houses and the question about the definition of that assumed area, where the use of the technology by mercenaries and freelancers is permitted, stands.

Technically speaking, he was never declared an enemy of Bretonia. But at any rate, based on the current definitions, Trent acted more like a Mercenary in the single player campaign. He took jobs from a government agency to help fight crime, and wound up getting caught up in the rest due to planet/station side circumstances more than anything. Think about it: Freeport 7 gets blown up around him, the guy he was making a trade arrangement with at the time gets framed for leading a terrorist organization, a thief gets shot while talking with him, leading to the events at Manhattan... Had he not been caught up in these events, chances are pretty good he would have just gone on as a simple trader while the nomads took over and we end up with a whole different game.
What does this have to do with the tech chart, Freelancers, and Mercenaries? Simply this: Trent's actions should not be the sole basis for our definitions, simply because they are far from typical for most people on this server.
' Wrote:There appears to be a discrepancy in the Tech Chart; Freelancers using Council Tech must remain withing Council ZoI, yet Freelancers using GRN tech do not have that restriction.
Also, Mercenaries do not have the same restriction on Council Tech.
Is this intentional, or an oversight?
Apologies if this has already been answered, but I'd still like a clarification.
