Flying Tigers [FTS] Border World Exports aligned.

Border World Exports:
Bowex Shipping Company is a pioneer in the exploration of the Border Worlds and the exclusive supplier to the Bretonian Military & Police.

Flying Tigers [FTS] are now unfriendly with KNF (KNF status post updated).
If one of their ship is found in Kusari space their cargo will be confiscated and the ship will be escorted to the nearer exit gate or destroyed if refuse to comply.
This also stands for any Bretonia related commercial company.

About Tau-29 and 31 I'm not sure..maybe you can ask for the cargo only? or it fall too much under piracy? After all there is a war going on and these guys are direct suppliers of our enemy..:nono:

Xoria, no one is calling you stupid. The rule refered to evidently is an outdated set of rules.

Quote:WARNING: These rules are outdated. Refer to newer rules here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4040

If anyone is stupid, I suppose it would be me since I am the one that read the outdated set of rules. I have read the updated rules several times and thought I had a pretty good understanding of them. Guess I was too thorough when reading even outdated ones.

I still stand by the faction's decision on this matter but will make adjustments if the Admins specifically tell us we need to change. Sorry for quoting outdated material.

They weren't the chinese nationalists. They were American volunteers. Read here.

They were also the Alliance's volunteers in Starlancer, in which the player flew for. They were named after the WW2 American fighter squadron.

I wish I could fly under coalition in starlancer.
beside basilik just looked so good... (yes our actual coalition ship prototypes are indeed based off the basilik, even though its not very obvious)

Some of you guys beat me to a reply to Xing's inaccurate description of one of the most effective and heros of the pre world war II volunteer groups. The link to the Flying Tiger Story is great, but let me quote parts of it for my good friend Xing.

Quote:Flying Tigers was the nickname of the 1st American Volunteer Group (AVG) that operated within the Chinese Air Force in 1941 and 1942. In essence a private military contractor, the volunteers were former United States Army (USAAF), Navy (USN), and Marine Corps (USMC) pilots and ground crew, recruited under Presidential sanction and commanded by Claire Chennault. The AVG consisted of three fighter squadrons that trained in Burma prior to the American entry into World War II to fight against Japanese forces.

One of the more famous pilots was Gregory Pappy Boyington, who was discharged from the AVG in April 1942 and returned to active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps. He went on to command the successful Black Sheep Squadron in the Solomon Islands, an outfit with many similarities to the Flying Tigers, and was one of two AVG veterans (the other being James Howard of the USAAF) to be awarded the Medal of Honor. Other notable AVG veterans were David Lee "Tex" Hill, later commander of the USAAF 23rd Fighter Group; Charles Older, who postwar earned a law degree, became a California Superior Court judge, and presided at the murder trial of Charles Manson; and Kenneth Jernstedt, long-time Oregon legislator and mayor of his home town of Hood River. Robert Prescott founded Flying Tiger Line as a cargo carrier; along with other AVG pilots: Dick Rossi, Robert Raine, Joe Rosbert, Tom Haywood, Robert "Duke" Hedman, Link Laughlin, Cliff Groh, Bus Loane and Robert Bartling.

Please note that our fighter support squadron was named after the Black Sheep Squadron which was lead by the former AVG Flying Tigers Gregory "Pappy " Boyington who was eventually awarded the Medal of Honor.

Excuse the rant, but it really bothers me when someone "puts foot in mouth" and then tries to justify it.

well... my justification wasn't wrong. They are flying KMT colours, hence I thought they were... KMT. If they were americans... I'd have thought they'd fly american colours...
duh...

Quote:9. As a member of the FTS, you must agree to full account dedication in regards to faction tagging. We will not allow members to belong to the FTS and other factions at the same time. Alternate untagged characters offer a good change of pace but please DO NOT show any hostility or be negative to a tagged FTS member when untagged. Review the rules regarding alignment and IDs for the untagged ships.
Well I went back and read the faction post again, and this is the only thing that really jumps out at me as problematic.
Those two parts in bold are actually mutually exclusive.
If John Q. Shipper joins [FTS] and also has an independent pirate/unlawful character, then it is contrary to good roleplay for him to just ignore / or assist [FTS] when they come along. This introduces a serious potential for unlawful characters to be assisting lawful ones contrary to "alignment and IDs".
For example, John Q. Shipper could be playing in his Liberty Rogue character and when other Liberty Rogues try to pirate [FTS] transports, John Q. Shipper [Rogue] can pipe up and say, "Hey, I just taxed them, leave them alone", because he wants his friends in [FTS] to not be taxed.
Now you can say that you are not that kind of players, and I am not accusing you of being that sort of players, since in fact I have never even seen your crew on the server yet. But the problem still is that your own faction requirements create this possibility by failing to distinguish between players and characters. They are not the same thing at all. There are plenty of players on this server who are allies and friends as certain characters, and are bitter enemies as other characters. It works fine and it actually creates more fun because once you have worked alongside someone, you trust them when you are fighting against them to be a good sport and play fairly. If it is just one sided all the time then it can create real life bitterness against other players caused by always being on opposite sides of the roleplaying fence.
I personally, have a couple of traders whose names are known only to myself and no other member, and I have actually been pirated in those traders by members of my own Lane Hacker clan that I am the leader of ! Not at any time did I try to get out of it by saying, "Hey, this is your LH faction leader, bugger off." I gave the pirates a run for their money and they still don't know it was me.
Frankly, this clause is contrary to the spirit of roleplaying and creates bad incentives and unhealthy potential for problems.
Besides which, how exactly are you going to enforce this? You don't know who a player's characters are unless he tells you or gives you access to his account. And even then he can have multiple accounts that you don't know about. You are just creating an incentive for players to start lying about their activities, and lies always snowball into other problems.
So to sum up,
1. Players and characters are NOT the same thing and should not be regulated as if they are
2. This restriction incentivizes out of roleplay behavior
3. This restriction provides an incentive for deceit among your members
4. This restriction runs contrary to the accepted roleplaying norm at Discovery, and won't be accepted by the already established members here.
